the unit is not a standalone operation. It requires a computer. The unit has been kept in great condition. pads feel really good. the unit has not been updated, firmware wise, in a while. The last firmware update was 2.15.1. the unit is unregistered so you can either contact Akai pro or go on their website to reregister the unit. Once you do that, you'll get all the software and plugins that come with it new.
