collapse expand iconDescription

The Vater StickMate Tambourine slides right on to your stick, brushes and mallets to give you added sound effects while playing. They're made of lightweight polymer and their low profile won't interfere with your playing. There's a cut-out in the handle for your thumb to rest in and contact the stick. You can easily put the StickMate Tambourine on and take it off. Or, tape the StickMate Tambourine on to your drum stick's grip for extended usage.

Not sure if it's worth reviewing? GC lists them both as "clearance" and i bought the Stickmate Tambourine and Stickmate Shaker at the same time (reviewed separately) for less than 5 each! Others sell for approx 25... I WOULD NOT BE HAPPY AT THAT PRICE! But I'm very happy to have them in my bag and they are worth having for the variety and quality they offer. 4-Stars because it's one of the best "drumstick add on's" out there, but needs to be modified to be used. Note it looks like brass but these are steel jingles. Also, i have the Rythmtech "Stick Jingler" in steel and I prefer the Stickmate because it's better balanced (to me), and the Jingler moves up and down and gets in the way of your grip. The Stickmate seems lighter overall, but it still adds to the weight of your stick. This Tambourine actually "cuts through" pretty loudly when I play along to music (800 watt PA, level mixed with un-miced kit). Not sure about that with a live band but I use it on my snare or with the cymbals and you can hear it clearly with normal playing force. It was a pain to use "as-is" and the little rubber gasket does nothing to hold it in place. They suggest taping them, but I used 4" wide shipping room "stretch wrap" and it worked great! Now that it no longer comes off or swirls around the stick, it's really fun to use and adds musical percussion to the back beat or cymbal pattern. So what if you dedicate one drumstick-it's worth it! I did that to the Shaker version as well and it's the same story. I'll say that I think the video is pretty worthless in comparison to their live sound; it's better live!
