Vic Firth

collapse expand iconDescription

Vic Firth's Corpsmaster Roger Carter Signature Snare Sticks are a revolution in marching percussion. Designed by world-renowned clinician Roger Carter, these sticks combine the feel of a drumset stick with the durability and volume of marching sticks. The long, sloping taper pushes mass to the back of the stick for remarkable response and flow, while the round tip provides excellent articulation at any dynamic. The result is a stick able to unlock nuance and groove rarely heard in marching percussion.

A Unique Feel for Rudimental Drumming

Roger Carter designed these sticks to have the feel of drumset sticks while retaining the power and projection required for marching percussion. The taper and tip work together to create a wide range of dynamics with a focused sound, allowing drummers to incorporate stylistic elements from drumset playing into marching rudiments and cadences. The added weight and durability also provide a level of response and rimshot articulation ideal for both drumline and drumset applications.

Unmatched Responsiveness and Control

The Corpsmaster Roger Carter Signature Snare Stick's long, sloping taper pushes mass to the back of the stick for remarkable response, while the round tip provides pinpoint articulation. This combination yields unparalleled dynamic control and musicality, allowing drummers to unlock nuance rarely achieved with traditional marching sticks. The taper also makes these sticks ideal for marching tenors, providing added speed and a crisp rimshot sound.

Built to Withstand the Rigors of Performance

As Vic Firth's first signature marching stick, the Corpsmaster Roger Carter model is built to withstand the most demanding performances. The hickory wood and clear lacquer finish provide added durability for indoor or outdoor use. The taper flares out slightly at the neck for extra strength at the point of fulcrum. This additional fortification allows these sticks to hold up during the longest rehearsals and performances.

A Stick for All Applications

Performers will appreciate the versatility of the Corpsmaster Roger Carter Signature Snare Sticks. The innovative taper and tip design make these sticks ideal for rudimental drumming, drumline, percussion ensembles and drumset playing. From DCI competitions to jazz combos, these sticks provide the power, nuance and durability for any musical setting.

Excellent Response and Control

Tried this sick out because cI really love a long taper and was intrigued by the stick profile and relative bead size. It did not disappoint! It's hard to explain but the assertion that it's a "marching stick with the expression of drumset sticks" is the perfect way to describe it.

Poor quality wood on pair, perhaps a fluke

This must have been a fluke, because Vic Firth is my kids go to stick for marching band and home play. The sticks were not made from "whole" wood, as the base of the sticks had filled crack lines. I expected more from Vic Firth signature sticks.

This specific model of snare stick has the greatest sound and feel of any snare stick on the market. I personally know Roger Carter the namesake, and he is possibly the best drumline coach on the West Coast.

I was fortunate to lead Ralph Hardimon's line in 1992 at the Blue Knights when the Prototypes of the first Hardimon stick were rolled out. I've been playing them for over 30 years, and Rogers stick reminds me of the first time I played the Ralph Hardimon stick. Excellent balance, tone, and rebound.
