VOX

collapse expand iconDescription

The VOX Custom Series AC15 guitar combo amp is now available with two 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speakers. This "TWIN" enhances the full, "chimey" sound of the AC15C1; and also features the larger spring reverb tank found in the AC30C2. The Custom Series have been updated to include dual channel sound, tremolo circuitry, and footswitching capabilities. True to its past, the AC15C2 "TWIN" relies on three 12AX7 dual triode vacuum tubes in the pre-amp stage, and two EL84 pentode tubes in the power stage.

Two channels are provided on the AC15C2: Normal and Top Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control. Both channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the AC15C2 "TWIN" can deliver the coveted clean VOX "chimey" sound or a powerful overdriven tone - and everything between.

The AC15C2 "TWIN" provides the VOX Classic Tremolo effect, with adjustable controls for both the speed and depth. A Warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Custom Series amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. The optional VFS2 footswitch provides a hands-free method of turning the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off while performing.

I use this amp to play in a rock band, many many live performances, and it stands out as one of the best amps I've ever owned. I love that it is a 2x at only 15watts. You can really crank this amp and get that tube break up you want with plenty of headroom to spare. No issue at all jamming with a full rock band. This amp is super clean making it an excellent pedal platform. Can't say anything bad about this amp other than it's really heavy. What can you expect for a tube amp that sounds so good?

I was struggling to choose between an AC30C2 and an AC15C1 or C2. I wasn't sure if the 15 would have enough headroom and be loud enough to jam with a drummer and bassist. I can without a doubt say that this amp gives you a fantastic rock tone and can deliver a nice clean one as well. You can play this amp quietly but it does sound its best when you're generous with the volume knobs. With that being said, I haven't had the master and top boost volume both on half yet because it would be too loud to be within 15 feet of and not damage ear drums. So far I have been fine without having an effects loop, which is present on the AC30 but not the AC15's (I've only been running a DS-1 into it though). Reverb and tremolo are nice touches. This amp is heavy (around 67 lbs?) and just a pound or two lighter than the AC30, so if you plan on gettin this amp, understand that it is not a walk in the park to move around. With that being said the weight hasn't stopped me from taking it to my buddies to jam because the tone is well worth the hassle. I haven't gigged with this amp but I'm sure it could hold a stage down, especially if mic'd. I've never played an AC15C1 so I can't tell you that the C2 is better based on comparison, but just on the fact that the additional 12" is probably worth it. I have definitely enjoyed this amp and will continue to do so.

The amp is fantastic. It took almost 2 weeks to arrive from IN THE SAME STATE, and I've been waiting more than 4 ADDITIONAL WEEKS and still have not received the footswitch that was listed as included.

I see for this amp that it says it has an optional footswitch but I'm not seeing where I'm able to select if I'd like that included. How do I go about making sure this is included with the amp?
