Audio Technica and Vox paired up to bring the Amp Plug experience to an all in one unit. I have/had all the guitar Vox Amp plugs, and loved them until they literally broke. These are a great replacement.

Sounds pretty good but definitely not worth more than $50. Not made in Japan like the description claims. The effects seem subtle and hard to distinguish. Gets fairly loud though.

The sound is not that bad. They can get pretty loud and the gain isn't that bad either. The tone and effect rockers are a nice addition to the headphones. I would pick this up as a gift for someone who is just starting to play rock but doesn't have the personal space for a loud amp.

how does the VGH-AC30 compare to the VGH-ROCK
VGH-AC30::: Modeling: Based on the classic VOX AC30 tube amp. Tone Character: Clean to chimey overdrive, very British and jangly. Best for: Classic rock, indie, pop, and clean-to-crunch tones. Strength: Responsive to picking dynamics and volume knob adjustments. VGH-ROCK::: Modeling: A high-gain amp style suited to hard rock and metal. Tone Character: Heavier distortion, more gain and compression. Best for: Modern rock, punk, metal, and lead playing. Strength: Thick, saturated tones with plenty of sustain. Choose the VGH-AC30 if you: Love vintage VOX tones. Play clean or classic overdriven sounds. Want a more dynamic and articulate response. Choose the VGH-ROCK if you: Want high-gain and heavier distortion. Play aggressive genres or lead-heavy styles. Prefer tight and punchy sounds with more compression.submitteda year ago
