Description
Designed to capture the natural, balanced acoustics of the revered original AKG C12 microphone, Warm Audio offers the WA-CX12 tube condenser microphone, with much greater accessibility. With universal application of studio, home or live use, the versatility of this mic lends itself to any situation without comprising on sound quality. Paying homage to its predecessor, the sonic character of this mic gives a natural sound and realism with the bright high-end you’re looking for, at a value that cannot be beaten.
Custom Reproduction Gives Pristine Sound
The edge terminated, all brass, large CK12-style capsule, is a reproduction of the vintage capsule to bring you that detailed, authentic C12 sonic character. This capsule also produces a wide frequency response of 30Hz–20kHz with a midrange presence and a smooth high-end for an added depth. To further supply a full and clear sound, is the TAB (AMI) transformer, made in the USA but with German laminations that help to capture a true analog sound with plenty of coloration. This mic uses a 12AY7 vacuum tube that adds a lot of warmth and richness to the acoustic quality, for a well-rounded sound that does well in both the lows and highs.
Vintage Acoustics With Accessible Features
After extensive research, Warm Audio decide to use a Gotham Audio GAC-7 cable. Learning about how 7-pin cables can reduce phase shift and increase top-end presence, Gotham Audio seemed the logical choice to partner with for their high-end, Swiss-produced cabling to provide the best sonic choice for this condenser mic. There are nine polar patterns: cardioid, omni, figure-8 and six mixed patterns all provide a balanced frequency response for ultimate versatility. With a bright top end and a rich low end, the WA-CX12 is a compelling option for anyone looking for that classic C12 sound.

Submitted as part of a sweepstakes
It's been several years since I've purchased gear for my studio. So it's been that same amount of time since I've seen Adam at Guitar Center Brookfield WI. He is the same excellent individual that he's always been. Professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Oh, and the new microphone is great too 😎
All my other vocal mics are getting dust on them

This mic stands up against mics that cost 3 X as much (even a reissue from a brand that starts with A and ends with G). The CX-12 thru my Phoenix Audio ascent pre-amp is the best vocal chain I've ever heard and I've also been using this in Omni as a drum room mic with very nice results.
Pleasantly Surprised!
