collapse expand iconDescription

Part of the popular Americana Series, Washburn's B7-A 5-string open-back banjo is a perfect addition to folk, old-time bluegrass and country music, or for clawhammer-style players. With an all-mahogany, open-back 5-string design reminiscent of its predecessors from the early 20th century, the B7-A was crafted with a Remo head for superlative tone and a maple bridge with ebony tip that offers superb tone transfer. Its chrome die-cast tuners and 5th-string geared Planetary tuner make getting ready to playing a smooth and easy process, while the nickel-plated D’Addario strings J60+ light gauge nickel strings ensure bright tone that'll last.

A case is sold separately.

Washburn has been building banjos since the late 1800s. These instruments were considered some of the finest of their day. This heritage is not lost in the instruments they handcraft today. Pros and amateurs alike choose a Washburn for its outstanding tone, build and value.

.Being a beginner I struggled when I started fretting. The nut on the Washburn b7 is only 1 1/8" long making it difficult for a beginner. When buying a banjo, check the nut length. I have up graded to to a Goldtone cc 100 rw. The Washburn did get me hooked.and I new I would get another banjo at some point.

  • The b7 met all expectations.

I am a 75 yr old beginner. There was no place in a town of 300,000 to put my hands on a banjo. I read a lot of reviews and that's just a starting point that is just as confusing as it is helpful. This is a really nice looking banjo. Beautiful real wood. Eighteen rim clamps have to be a plus. Bright, chrome plated hardware. It has all chrome plated, geared tuners. I put a small piece of tape on the head so I could tell where my little finger should be. I ordered an arm guard to help with keeping my hand a little higher. [ learner]. I'll give another review in a couple months or more. LOL.
