Nice tool

I'm using this a/b switch as the junction between the normal and top boost channels of my Vox AC30CC2. The switchbox is dead silent between sides. It's build like a tank. I don't notice any colorization in my tone with the unit in or out of my effects chain. I'd recommend this item.

Not isolated properly

Although a nice box, don't be fooled by the 'optical' switching. It's not really optical, it's a LED coupler in a chip which does the switching electronically, and because f that there is no 100% noise isolation on B when A is used or vice versa... in my setup out A is straight to the 1st channel of my amp and output B goes through the effect board that is connected to the 2nd channel in the amp. When A output is on, and the effects are on 9connected through B), you could here the hums on the 2nd amp channel coming through the B channel...

This unit works perfectly. I don't know what optical switching is, but it's real smooth and quiet.

I use this pedal for running an electric and acoustic into a BOSS GT10 into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for live shows. I tried out a couple other AB and ABY pedals before grabbing this one. All the other pedals either majorly sucked tone and made it sound like I was practically playing underwater, OR they boosted the signal so much that even my clean channels sounded gritty. This one has hardly any tone loss (a tiny bit, but it is hardly noticeable, and no one in the band even noticed but me), and more importantly there seems to be no signal boost, so my cleans are still sparkling and my OD's and Dist's are only as dirty as they should be. If you're looking for a way to run two guitars into one amp for under $100, this is the best way to go in my opinion.

  • Perserve your tone! Buy this Pedal!!!

the first aby i had was a morely and it sucked terribly loud clicking, the lights shorted out, HUGE tone loss this pedal is perfect. You wonۡt go wrong with this pedal, its quality, or please donۡt sacrifice get the best pedals, cables, heads, and birch cabs or youۡre going to end up replacing them... Iۡm looking out for fellow guitar players learn from my early mistakes. Enjoy, play on
