Yamaha Clavinova CLP-735 Digital Piano Overview

Description
The Clavinova CLP-735 digital piano inspires creativity with its authentic grand piano sound and premium features. Yamaha's cutting-edge Virtual Resonance Modeling provides rich, complex tones to match the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos. The Grand Expression Modeling system enables fluid expression through precise key action and triple-sensor hammer detection. Whether you're practicing a sonata or composing your next hit, 38 high-quality voices, including fortepiano and pipe organ are at your fingertips.
Escape to the Concert Hall With Fortepiano Voices
Experience the original sounds of historic pianos from the Baroque and Classical periods. Fortepiano Voices on the CLP-735 let you hear pieces by Bach, Mozart and Beethoven as the composers intended. Delicate and articulate, these Voices transport you to an 18th century salon.
Your Master Class Begins With Realistic Key Action
The Clavinova CLP-735's Grand Expression Modeling system provides an authentic grand piano feel. Triple-sensor key detection captures the speed and nuance of your playing, while synthetic ebony and ivory key tops absorb moisture and prevent slipping. With enhanced sensitivity from the lightest pianissimo to the most dramatic fortissimo, you have full expressive control.
Practice and Play With High-Fidelity Sound
Whether practicing technique or recording your next composition, the CLP-735 inspires with its premium stereo speaker system and binaural CFX grand piano samples through headphones. Connect via USB to capture your performance or stream audio with Smart Pianist app. With a sleek cabinet, sliding key cover and storage bench included, the CLP-735 is an all-in-one solution for pianists of all levels.
All the Tools You Need to Hone Your Craft
The Clavinova CLP-735 provides a wealth of resources for productive practice. Built-in lesson songs, rhythms and recording functions help you strengthen technique and evaluate your progress. Approaching Perfection
I looked at the Arius line, and the P-515 before settling on the CLP-735. The Arius line does not have binaural sampling. The P-515 requires accessories to achieve proper playing position; and even with the accessories, movement is still present when playing. The CLP-735 has a better sound system than the P-515 and the cabinet is stable and offers comfortable playing position. When using headphones with the binaural sampling, along with the Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), the piano reproduction approaches perfection. The Smart Pianist should be offered on Windows. Windows tablets and 2-in-1s laptops have been around for over a decade and millions of people have these devices.

Good sound with headphones on
I very much enjoy playing it with headphones on. Playing with the built-in speakers is less satisfying. Initially, I positioned it against a wall and was surprised at how muffled the sound was. Acoustic uprights can sit against a wall and sound fine. I moved it about 6 inches away from the wall and that helped a bit. For holiday gatherings and sing-alongs, I believe I will have to turn it around for better sound.

I began taking lessons almost a year ago and started with a lower model Yamaha until I knew I was committed. I had found this product to be my goal so it was a pleasure to upgrade. The look of being more like and upright along with the touch and other features makes this an amazing tool to continue my learning!
Great instrument but could use some updates

Well made, love the 'brown' finish - wish it was available on all models. Would like to see some critical updates for next generation - USBC that allows ipad charging, improved sounds beyond the pianos - an instrument at this price Yamaha should include more, higher quality sounds. It's missing about a dozen key instruments. The rhythms sound tinny, they would benefit from higher quality samples and add about a dozen key missing rhythms. The General MIDI sounds are 40 years old and awful, seems like they were thrown in as an afterthought. The screen could use a higher resolution and updated interface.

Feels and sounds great. My son and my wife has been using the Clavinola to practice at home. Assembling it was easy.
I didn't know it would be so much like a real piano.

I didn't know it would be so much like a real piano. Currently, I have a Steinway grand piano, but as I moved to an apartment, I ended up purchasing a digital piano. Surprisingly, there's almost no difference compared to the grand piano, and I particularly enjoy the freedom to play it at night. The key touch is excellent, and I am very satisfied.

I am kicking myself for not purchasing a Yamaha years ago. The sound and feel of it are phenomenal. It is indistinguishable from an acoustic grand. This alone has taken my daughter's (and my) playing to the next level. Do your family (and yourself) a favor...get one.

I own a Clavinova 560. The felt needs replacing. How can I get that part? If I upgraded to this 735 model, can the felt be replaced on that one?
