The Yamaha MONTAGE synth workstation was conceived as Yamaha's flagship keyboard for synthesis and production. The MONTAGE M Series workstations (M6 61-key, M7 76-key and M8x 88-key) might as well have been named the MONTAGE M(ore) Series, with more polyphony, more synthesis engines, more memory, more sounds, more control and more creative fun. Plus, expanded integration with virtual instrument plug-ins and a streamlined workflow, it's easier than ever to get the music that's in your head out into the world.

Yamaha Montage M7 Control Detail

Expanded Sonic Capability

The MONTAGE M combines three different sound sources for a total of 400-note polyphony. First, the FM-X provides 128-note polyphony of FM synthesis from an eight-operator FM engine with 88 available algorithms and incredibly fast Smart Morphs for a wide range of dynamic, deeply controllable sounds. The AWM wave-based synthesis engine has doubled its polyphony from earlier versions to 256 notes, with 128 available elements and 10GB of preset waveforms. It also has almost 4GB of flash memory to load your own waveforms. Finally, the addition of an analog engine—AN-X—brings an additional 16 voices of polyphony and provides classic synthesis tools to build sounds ranging from fat, classic, analog warmth to crafting your own, never-before-heard sonic madness.

Yamaha Montage M7 Expressive Control

Expressive Control for Creation and Performance

The original Yamaha MONTAGE offered up powerful control options. The Yamaha MONTAGE M series expands on that with even more access to control for both sound creation and performance. With an updated ribbon, dedicated portamento control and a hold button, plus the ability for on-the-fly customization directly from the keyboard, without needing to access any menus, you have much more ability to create and control on the fly. A responsive, 76-key keybed respects the nuances of your performance with superb feel and comfortable action.

Yamaha Montage M7 Display Screen

Refined, Streamlined Workflow

The revamped UI in the Yamaha MONTAGE M series is like a GPS for synth programming. For example, the new Display Knobs make for much faster operation and edits. Dual screens make it easy to keep track of what you're editing and what state it's in, helping streamline the process. Add in faster screen response, easy-to-use touchscreen and almost instantaneous Smart Morphs, and you're where you need to be faster than ever before.

Easy Sync With Your DAW

Included with every MONTAGE M is the Expanded Softsynth Plug-In (ESP) that's like having a MONTAGE M living in your computer. You can run multiple instances of the plug-in for incredible, rich textures. And the ability to sync MONTAGE Performances back and forth begins to erase the line between studio and stage, giving you access to your most creative moments, wherever you are.

Yamaha has always been at the forefront of synth development, and MONTAGE M provides capacities and workflow that push that envelope just a little bit further. It's time to step up to a new paradigm in production workstation.

The Montage M7 I purchased is the perfect synthesizer for my personal needs. The excellent acoustic & electric piano and organ performance parts, the live-sounding strings, wind instruments, and various synth sounds receive constant positive feedback from fellow musicians, and I work with 11 Bands. It has numerous easy-access editing abilities, allowing me to tweak each part to my preference. I owned the original Montage and had been wondering how they would improve on that for the past few years, and I wasn't disappointed.

  • you have to give it up to yamaha and their musical tributes.

i have been on the yamaha ride for quite sometime.. from the first motif, to the last motif. the motif, motif es, motif xs, motif xf, and the mox yamaha and the moxf yamaha. you don't shoot out money like that unless your getting the job done.. i'm also a montage user now this, i have the montage m8x. very exciting!! piece of gear .. take the dive.. it's very expensive. however most of us are gear heads.. think about down sizing your gear.and be sure to keep your strength in tack. the m8x has a little bit of a weight curve. you can conquer it though, when you think about the delicious accomplishments you will achieve with this dream machine.

  • The Montage M series is everything you need and then some.

After holding off on the initial release of the Montage, due to still being in love with my Motif XF6 (40th Anniversary) model I waited to see what Yamaha was planning to offer as the next big thing to it. Well then they released the new and improved Montage M series and I caught wind of a few demo videos. I became really excited about the new sound engine and what could be done with it. So my curiosity got the best of me and I reluctantly sold my Motif and purchased the new "M" series Montage. I can honestly say this thing blows me away. this board instantly made me forgot about the beating I took selling my Motif. It is a BEAST and worth every dime I spent on it. I know I'm not alone in my opinion of this synth, and I give kudos to Yamaha for working with some of the huge people in the music industry that contributed to making this a masterpiece. Thank you all so much. Mark B.
