The product is excellent. Especially the design. A lot of makers lie about the neck width on classical guitars nowadays, but Yamaha does not. It is actually the correct 52mm(2.04inch) width and not 50mm or less like some hybrid designs or any of the cordoba classical guitars I have. It sounds good and is great for practice guitar. There is one caveat. The guitar I received was not in new condition. It seemed used. I travel for work so I had the guitar for more than 30days before I got home to open it to find out. And I found scratches and nicks in various places on the neck back and sides. I would have teturned it because of this had I been able to at the time. But since I couldn't I just kept it. In the future I will probably never order from yamaha again because of this and I don't recommend anyone buy this guitar without vetting first. If yamaha is capable of sending customers used or less than perfect guitars for a premium price like this one I just would not trust them. I dont like the bag that it comes with either. It seems cheap and scratches the finish and not much storage. I bought a cheap silent guitar from china that came with a better tougher bag with a felt liner that doesn't scratch. It Doesnt provide much protection. Id prefer a small hard case with pockets but non exists. Also, I dont like the knobs for tightening the detachable half. Since the strap connects here they seem to loosen when using and I don't feel the side is secure at times. It has come loose unexpectedly for me a few times. Overall I like it but wish I received a better product for the money it costs.

  • Very nice instrument

I bought this guitar to be something easy to travel with. I like that it is thin, and the upper body section is removable. The gig bag is also nice, provides compartments for the body and guitar. The overall size and thickness of this will fit nicely on an overhead bin on a plane, and the lack of body I think will make it more durable than a traditional classical guitar. I've had this for a few days now, and the sound is great! Exactly as described. The two reverb settings, chorus, and mixing between pickup and microphone do a nice job to emulate an acoustic guitar. I feel that this would also be very nice for home recording, as you could bypass the expensive microphone setup and go directly into an audio interface with this. Playability wise, the action is very nice as setup from the factory, a little lower than my other nylon string guitar, with the same wider nut. Overall, I like this instrument a lot. I noted that it doesn't work with a guitar lift/support, but it does have strap buttons, and I find that I can still position it appropriately using a strap, so that's not really a big deal. #sweepstakes

I *love* my Yamaha silent guitar (SLG200NW). There's something about practicing at night that appeals to me, but a regular acoustic is too loud, even with muted strings. The silent guitar is like a dream come true. The sensitive pickup and onboard electronics allow me to work on dynamics and tone production with very nice sounding output through the headphones. There is also an input jack that allows me to connect my metronome. It is everything I need to get real practice and playing without worrying about disturbing the family while they sleep. Love, love, love my Yamaha silent guitar. #sweepstakes

I'm am so happy with my Yamaha SLG200NW Silent Guitar, Wide Nylon-String - Natural from Sweetwater. I have tried it with my EV Evolve 30m, Everse 8, QSCP8, Neve Preamp, Grace Designs Felix2 and ROXi and it sounds fantastic on all of my live platforms as well as in the studio with my UA Apollo gear. Yamaha hit a home run with this guitar. It come's ready to play out of the box. If you need to lower the action it's as easy as adjusting the saddle. The tone and feel are fully resonate and respond to playing nuances/ technique. So easy to travel and gig with using the included gig bag. I have gig with the guitar last weekend and loved it. I have some very high end flamenco guitars like DeVoe, Culpepper, and others. I have wanted a practice guitar as well as a guitar to do local gigs with. This is that guitar. It's so well built and perfect for the traveling nylon string guitarist. It really produces a fantastic believable tone. The Preamp and mic blend/ EQ and reverb on the guitar are stellar I have tried a wireless with Sennheiser XSW that worked well but the x3 Evolution 3 seemed to have a few issues. The feel look and quality of the guitars build are top notch. I have not put it down since it arrived. I've had others say they are very impressed with the tone/sound sound of the guitar as well. The guitar is a keeper. I am working on getting a glopadore/ tap plate to work in conjunction with the Preamp. I like the medium tension DAddario EJ45 strings on the guitar. Sweetwater sent the guitar well packed and safe to me. They really do have the best customer service/support in the business and are hear to help musicians get the gear they need. Thanks Sweetwater & Yamaha.
