More than pleased with this e-cello. Everything about is quality and sounds amazing thru my Fishers. The added case and headphones felt like a gift. Especially like the quick take down and put together. Action was perfect outta the box. Now I just need to learn how to play a cello 🤷‍♂️

How easy is it to play in higher positions? Is it as stiff near the bridge as conventional cellos?

The Yamaha SVC-50SK Silent Compact Cello is generally easier to play in higher positions than a conventional acoustic cello, thanks to its slim body design and cutaway-style shape that gives better access to the upper fingerboard. Here's a breakdown of its feel near the bridge and in higher positions: Advantages in Higher Positions: Minimal body bulk: There's no traditional cello bout to block your hand, making thumb position and high-register work more accessible. Design for mobility: It's designed with electric playability in mind, so you’ll likely find it more forgiving when shifting up the fingerboard. What Feels the Same (or Notably Different): String tension: The string feel and tension near the bridge are similar to acoustic cellos because it uses standard cello strings and scale length. So, while physically less bulky, the stiffness under the fingers near the bridge won't be much different. Sound feedback: Due to its silent/electric nature, you don’t get the same resonant tactile feedback, which can make articulation near the bridge feel a bit less "alive" compared to a traditional cello. In summary: easier to reach high positions and less physical obstruction, but string stiffness near the bridge remains similar to a conventional cello.
