Yamaha

collapse expand iconDescription

As with the introduction of Stage Custom in 1995 Yamaha once again sets the standards of value and sound. The shell is a key factor in a drum's ability to "rumble," or resonate. Accordingly, the Stage Custom employs 100% birch - a classic in the realm of high-class drum kits. Moreover, with its six-ply structure the Stage Custom accurately conveys the vibrations produced at the impact surface, achieving performance that overwhelms anything in its class.

This snare is fitted with 1.5 mm steel triple-flange hoops, a B-Type side throw-off and Remo heads.

It only looks like you spent alot of money.

Was concerned about how well it projected. Since, my old one, that I've had for 30+ years, is a Steel 14x7 snare drum -very responsive and really projects I wanted to replace with something comparable.. After tuning this new snare upstairs, it sounded kind of weak, but then I put it with my 7 pc. set downstairs and it projects just as well. Even better its very crisp and warm, which makes it great for soft or hard music. You tube had a million videos on this drum and it sounded great on all of them. Looks sharp, sounds sharp! People will probably think I spent a lot of money on it, but I didn't (under $120!). Only cons: 2 dark lines in the finish but hardly noticeable. only took 2 moongels to get rid of reverb. Purred like a kitten after that.

Surprising quality and sound

Got this to experiment with, and to use in low-fi situations, because I trust Yamaha's QC and my own ability to make even low-grade drums sound pretty good, and because the price on sale was just too good to pass up. The build quality surpassed my expectations, and without even changing the factory heads it tuned up into a respectable-sounding unit-- as good as drums 4-5x the price I paid. The "boxiness," evinced by most cheap snare drums, is only slight, and I expect to eradicate it by switching to a more substantial batter hoop.

Practice snare. Sounds great out of the box, but better once the heads and snares are replaced.

  • I would buy this product in different colors again.

I use this snare drum for rehearsals and church. It sounds amazing in both environments. It's turned to the way I like.

The Yamaha Stage snare sounds great I definitely love the color plus with the Remo Controlled Sounded Head made it sound even better and Zildjian stick bag came in handy I really needed that to replace my last stick bag.

  • I'd buy it again.
