Zoom G3n Guitar Multi-Effects Processor

Description
The G3n is a versatile multi-effects processor that lets you defy genre with the most realistic stompbox, cabinet, and amplifier emulations Zoom has ever created. Its high-quality sound, portable design, 80 second Looper, and intuitive interface make it the perfect addition to your pedalboard. To put it simply, the G3n offers all the sounds and tools you need to improve your tone and sound greater than ever.
Boutique Pedals, Legendary Amps, and Superior Effects
The G3n is pre-loaded with 70 expertly crafted and assembled DSP effects (68 effects, 1 looper pedal, and 1 rhythm pedal), plus 10 of the most realistic amp/cabinet emulators we've ever created. We’ve loaded the G3n with essential guitar sounds like overdrive, distortion, compression, EQ, delay, reverb, flanging, phasing, vibrato, and chorusing. Unique multi-effects such as Seq Filter, Reverse Delay, HD Hall, and OSC Echo are also included.
Create Complex Signal Chains
Use up to seven effects and amp/cabinet models simultaneously, chained together in any order you like. It's like having hundreds of fully loaded pedalboards all in one compact and easy-to-use device.
Accurate, Realistic Amp and Cabinet Emulation
Choose from five classic amp models and adjust the sound exactly as you would with the knobs and switches of the real thing—and then pair your amp with one of the five new cabinet emulators to complete the sound.
Plus, you can download even more faithfully recreated amp/cabinet combinations such as Fender Bassman, Hi-Watt Custom 100, Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Orange Channel, Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb, and Orange Graphic120—available now with more being released every month.
75 Custom-Crafted Patches and Counting
Recreate essential guitar tones and pioneer new territory with 75 custom-designed patches created exclusively by Zoom guitarists. Use these patches to emulate the iconic sounds of Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, Michael Schenker, and Brian May or explore something completely brand new.
Fast and Intuitive Editing
The G3n’s switches and knobs give you enhanced control and have the responsive, hands-on feel of a standard stompbox. The G3n combines three LCD displays to show whole effect-chains at a glance, making it easy to add, delete, or change the order of effects quickly. Plus, you can store up to 150 of your custom effects-chains as patches.
Practice and Perform
There are 68 built-in rhythm patterns included with the G3n, making it the perfect practice rig and enabling "one-man band" performances.
An onboard Looper (which can be used with the rhythm patterns) allows you to record and overdub phrases up to 80 seconds long through the effects of your choice.
A built-in chromatic tuner lets you bypass the currently selected patch while tuning, or mute the signal altogether.
Inputs and Outputs
The G3n can be easily integrated into any live performance or studio rig. In addition to a standard guitar input, there's an auxiliary stereo input for connecting smartphones or music players. It also includes a dedicated headphone jack for practice and dual outputs for mono or stereo L/R connection to guitar amps, PA systems, and audio interfaces.
The Mic On/Off feature lets you optimize the G3n for use with a real amp and cabinet (Mic Off) as well as optimize for playing through a PA system or recording direct with amp and cabinet emulators (Mic On).
ZOOM Guitar Lab Software
Our free ZOOM Guitar Lab Mac/Windows software enables you to manage your patches and download new effects and amp/cabinet emulators. It includes both a Patch Manager for effects chains and an Effects Manager, with a simple graphic user interface that provides point-and-click control over re-naming or re-ordering your custom patches.

Another great pedal from Zoom!
Zoom keeps setting the bar higher and higher. I purchased the unit months before it was available in the states. The Zoom G3n is very similar to the G5N despite it's smaller size and features. How I use the Zoom G3n is mainly from drums, loop, expression, and a few effects because I already have the Zoom G3 programmed with great sounding effects and preamps. My current setup is (input --> G3 (effects, expression preamp) --> G3n (Drums, Loop, Expression, effects) --> Output) powered by the 1 spot Pro CS-7 from Truetone. The G3n pedal is built like a tank and can take some abuse. There's no midi for the unit but I believe you can contact Disaster Area Design to purchase a gHOST Converter USB MIDI Host Interface. The G3n eliminates the need for a tuner which is easy to read even on the stage. The additional foot switches below make it easy to control presets, stomp pedal mode, and bank selects. Unlike the original G3 the G3n makes access to the drums and loops effortless using the foot switches. There are two improvements I am waiting on midi ports and memory card slots for saving loops.

I think I got Zoomed....
I've owned several other pedals in the past and some were better than others. This one is my latest addition. The manual is vague not enough detail, it took some guessing and experimenting to learn how this thing operates. Got past most of that. Individual FX are good but most are way over the top and need editing to be useful. I don't understand why they over do the FX, no need to get extreme with the factory sets. The Looper is nice but haven't figured out how I would use it yet (my first Multi-FX pedal with a built in Looper). No power adapter noise is nice a plus. No Bypass switch is a bummer if used in a pedal board with other FX, could make bypass patches but that kind of fails the idea of easy switching between other pedals. It needs a better clean sound with the Fender Twin Reverb model, Twins are known for their clean and this doesn't sound like a Twin at all. Need to fix that. Go listen to a Twin, I owned one for 30 years I know what they sound like. At this point I'm a little disappointed at Zoom, I don't think they thought this pedal through very well. It may be great for some people but it's kind of eh, for me. I may send it back.

Great sound no headaches

I have owned just about every multi effects unit and amp in the last 3 years. Line 6, Boss , Blackstar , etc. and I do mean all of them. FR cabinets you name it. I have tried all of them and returned them all or sold them. They all have that glitch the renders them not good for live use. Such as switching problems and digital wave issues, and programming nightmares. Most of them put there efforts into fancy graphics rather than just good sound. The Zoom G3n doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles but it gets you where you need to be. As far as programming, in a few short evenings I have achieved more than I have with months of painful editing with the other brands. Also I don't understand the other reviews stating that you can't make a patch with your PC. I have composed every patch I have on my PC. The only down side I could find, is that it is hard to get a total clean sound. So if you are a clean player the G series may not be for you. For the price of this unit you can't go wrong.
I would buy again

This is a great piece . It's built like a tank and the sounds are great for even skilled musicians. The price was right to see how much more I might want to spend on the new project I started with friends. It's also one of the few peddles that gave me the feel of real single pedal feel while having much more in the background
Yes I would buy this again

It's pretty simple to use after a quick glance at the instruction manual. I've had it for about 10 days and haven't really explored all the different effects. There is a ton of veritable combinations and tweaks. 76 pre programed and 76 empty to make my own sound. I learn quickly to NOT use your amps overdrive and distortion channels. Play clean channel the peddle has amazing drive peddles. I am glad I bought this peddle, I bought a Cry Baby Wah Wah 21 days before that. I am ROCK star now! I currently play out of an Ibanez 150watt amp. Twin 12's. My main guitar is an Ibanez RG series black.

UNBEATABLE BARGAIN

Get this on sale, and there's nothing that can touch it. Brilliant sound quality, quiet as a mouse, 32 bit processing, 2 bit sampling, a gazillion great effects. Editing and using is pretty easy, you'll have it all down in 5 to 10 minutes if you simply read the instructions- and I barely had to, and still got it figured out. Built like a tank, up-gradable and expandable memory, patches, and effects. (Use the downloadable Guitar Lab software). 3 effects on/off switches at once, but easy enough to scroll and turn on/off any effect in a patch. I run mine off of batteries, a home made battery pack using either 9 volt or AA batteries- either works. A definite improvement over the G3. The only thing better would be a pedal with more physical switches- but then you're paying a lot more money, and bigger pedal, so I opted for less cash outlay, more compact pedal. Truly wonderful and 21st century on it's own, yet small enough to put on a pedal board. Do I sound like a commercial?? :-) I'm not, just a user. Best pedal bargain on the planet right now. Better than Boss or anything else I'm aware of. 10 stars.

Does this pedal have a true bypass? I generally play clean and sparingly use effect pedals. i am just looking to combine my existing pedals into one unit.
'Bypass' is typically seen as a "feature" by a manufacturer. As such it will be noted in Specs/Features.. There is no such information from Zoom. I would assume, no.submitted3 years ago
