The R4 MultiTrak is a portable recorder made for musicians looking to enhance their creativity. With 32-bit float recording, a dedicated "bounce track" and built-in effects, the R4 is ideal for capturing your most ambitious musical ideas.

32-Bit Float Recording Provides Pristine Capture

The R4's 32-bit float recording allows you to capture high quality audio without worrying about clipping. With its increased dynamic range, the R4 captures the subtleties and nuances in every take. This allows you to focus on performing rather than monitoring levels, giving you the freedom to fully explore your creativity.

Dedicated Bounce Track Maximizes Your Track Count

The R4 lets you record up to 4 tracks, mix them and then bounce them to the dedicated "bounce track". This frees up additional tracks so you can keep adding layers. If needed, you can undo the last bounce to remix your tracks or record new ones. With this innovative feature, you can build up dense, complex compositions track by track. Tracks are automatically saved, even after they have been bounced.

Onboard Effects Refine Your Mix

To help you craft your ideal mix, the R4 provides effects on each track including a 3-band EQ, reverb, echo and pan. Input A also has amp simulations, delays, distortions and more. With a simple, intuitive interface, you can quickly dial in the perfect sound for your music. The R4 also has a rhythm section that comes preloaded with 80 different drum patterns in varying genres to enhance your mix.

A Musician's Tool for Capturing Ideas

Designed by musicians for musicians, the R4 MultiTrak is a powerful yet portable 4-track recorder packed with features to capture your creative ideas. It features combo inputs with Zoom preamps so you can plug in microphones, instruments, keyboards and more. The built-in microphone is perfect for acoustic guitars, vocals or when you need to capture a quick reference recording.

  • Excellent Recorder for Traveling

I have been traveling to LA and Nashville and wanted a recorder that is easy to use, convenient in size, and compatible with my Zoom R24 studio workstation while being affordable. The R-4 meets all those requirements and records at the same pro quality. It's a great addition to my production chain.

This thing is very simple to use and is great for capturing ideas and writing on the fly. I was considering the Tascam Portacapture X8 until I learned you can't use the metronome in the main recording mode for multitracking in sync. As soon as I gave up on finding something small to record and stack ideas and harmonies in remote locations this little guy drops. 32-bit float is an amazing touch for the price.
