ddrum

collapse expand iconDescription

ddrum's Deccabon drums are 6" in diameter drum and tuned to represent specific notes in the scale, as each varies in depth. But rather than simply providing the eight notes in a given octave, ddrum has expanded the scale by offering depths from 6" to 24", for more tonal variation and control.

This set includes 22" and 24" black fiberglass Deccabons with a double-braced stand for additional voicings around the kit, tuned melodic passages or just the right amount of mayhem to make a proper statement.

I purchased the 18",20",22" & 24" Deccabons and they're terrible. The quality of each drum, especially the 18" is very poor. The bearing edges aren't consistent and the edges of each drum look like they were finished/sanded by someone with their eyes closed. On the inside of the drums, there are "pock" marks where it looks like the fiberglass wan't formed correctly. The Deccabon stands come equipped with round L-rods but the mounts on the Deccabon drums themselves are clearly for a hex shape L rod...? Lastly, it's very difficult to obtain a decent angle when trying to position the drums because the more you try to place them in a downward angle, the Deccabon tube hits the bottom of the L-rod mounting post. I sent 2 e-mails to DDRUM to express my dissatisfaction and received no response - bad product, no customer service. That's what you'll get if you buy these.

I bought the 22"-24" decabons for a couple of reasons. One was that I could get a pair rather than being compelled to purchase a group of 4. Secondly, it was because of the size and the accompanying stand. I have a small 4-piece Gretsch kit, and I added these two drums at the top-end of the kit. I hooked them up with a LP 8" mini timbale, experimented with some different heads, and found a very desirable spectrum of new percussion color to augment my kit. Although they only came in black, and my kit is vintage marine pearl white, I had the drums painted with a pearlized car-paint and clear coat and they look fantastic! I find them a good value for the price, and better quality than you might expect.
