I'm really stoked on the construction and the built in trigger. I will be using the trigger in this snare in conjunction with an Alesis drum pad and we'll see how recording goes.

In a case like this we recommend having a qualified tech look at the drums

Is this compatible with the Yamaha dtx explorer? Do I need a real snare drum stand and does it register rim shots?
