ddrum Hybrid Drum Series

Description
As mentioned, this fully functional acoustic drum set has been augmented with ddrum Acoustic Pro triggers. These triggers provide a wide dynamic range, easily replaceable transducers, rugged metal construction and increased sensitivity for accurate response. They are shock mounted to the interior of the drum, with the cable plugging into the shells' integrated XLR connections. This allows players to take full advantage of electronic options for sound reinforcement and replacement. The drums can also be fitted with mesh heads (sold separately) to become fully electronic.
These drums have a satin finish accented by powder-coated lugs and triple-flange hoops. Also includes tom arms and clamps for mounted toms.
Cymbals and additional hardware sold separately.

- Birch shells are 6-ply on the toms and 8-ply on the kick and snare

Ddrum for Classic Rocker

+I've only had these drums for two weeks, but am really pleased with the sound and look so far. The metal sound is different for me since I'm basicaly a Classic Rocker. They are easy to play and stay tuned well. I'm a bit disappointed with having to spend more money to make them "electronic". The XLR cords, cymbal mikes, and ampliphier will have to wait. But for now I'm happy with these Ddrums and the paiste cymbals I got with them.
Well worth it

The deep tone of the kick and all pieces with triggers already in place, this thing was rocking right out of the box. I am looking forward to seeing how far this will go once I figure out all the ways I can utilize the triggers. Great sound though already.
Great Sound, Poor Construction

I had to return the first shell pack because the XLR plug on the bass drum pulled out. The second shell pack suffered the same results; I had to solder the plug back in myself. In doing so I noticed that the xlr plugs are all corroded, (every connection to some extent). Notice that the warranty briefly covers the taps. I am starting to get some sound interference but i guess I can't positively link that to the corrosion. I have had these drums less than a year and stored them inside the entire time. The drums sound good for their size, and are especially comfortable to play. The toms sit over the bass nice but the drums need to be mounted off a rack. The picture shows the toms mounted off the bass drum and there is no such connection. I suppose you could drill holes, purchase the hardware, and install it yourself... but who wants to do that? The picture is misleading. Over all, after having the drums for almost a year, I give them a 2, -2 points for the lack of quality construction, -1 point for the misleading picture.. expect to purchase a 300 dollar rack, +1 point for quality accoustic sound quality, +1 point for appearance. Over all, These drums advertise convenience and offer hardship.
