Description
Top blues educator Jeff McErlain reached out to the Delta and beyond to deliver the building blocks that every consummate bluesman must know to unleash blues solos full of soulful lines and vibrato-soaked bends.
Jeff goes way beyond the familiar minor pentatonic licks by uncovering the scalar approaches, turnarounds, comping ideas, and signature lines of blues masters Clapton, Page, Green, SRV, Hendrix, and Billy Gibbons as well as pioneers such as B.B., T Bone, Albert King, and John Lee Hooker. You'll learn sliding 6ths, chromatics, minor and major applications, diminished lines, overtones, killer double-stops, octaves, rakes, swing comping, swamp licks, and much more.
Add these 50 licks to your blues bag and you'll have the insight and chops to deliver powerful, evocative solos within any blues style.
Guitar Lab's innovative learning systems employ a hands-on approach where students play their way through the curriculum using learning tools such as PIP video, practice rhythm tracks, and interactive tab and notation, which allows the student to play along with the tab and notation, at any tempo, without a change in pitch.

I bought it because there were tabs that came with it - via the website. Once you jump through all the hoops to get them, there's no indication how! I have very politely contacted him several times over the last few months without an answer as to how I could get them. Yes, I've filled out the form twice - to receive the download link with NO results. As for the lesson itself? He provides insightful historical references, but the lessons lack the same enthusiasm - he's in a hurry by the time he gets there he's short on time. Doesn't discuss note character, nuance, spacing etc. - just HOW to play the fingerings not much of the rest. (Showing vs teaching.)The format does not work on any of the 4 computers I have, its just a movie. Two of them won't even play it. Maybe mine's defective? Who knows, they won't talk to me. On internet you use a progress bar with a mouse to pick and play repeat etc. This does NOT work with this DVD, its just for looks. You can only repeat it like a movie and sit there wait several minutes to get to the 15-20 second lesson - pure aggravation especially when You have to write your own tabs down and hope you get it the first time. Slow to rewind, if you skip back its gona be a long wait til you get to the spot you seek. I don't know, personally I'm confused. On the bright side, I do like the licks though as there are some good ones in there. Just not sure it's worth loosing precious practice time to get them out of it. Customer service leaves lots to be desired.
