Description
If you’re looking to add a matched pair of small-diaphragm condensers to your mic locker, the sE Electronics sE7 is a versatile and value-driven option suitable for a variety of sources, whether you’re recording acoustic guitars, piano, drums or even vocals. With its advanced electronics and precision-engineered ultra-thin diaphragm, the sE7 offers a stunning degree of depth and clarity across a wide range of frequencies, capturing the nuances of a plucked string and the shimmering detail of a cymbal crash with accuracy and precision.
This matched pair of sE7s is ideal for producing a balanced and lifelike stereo recording. Each pair of sE microphones is selected from hundreds of individual units to provide uniform performance. The result is the highest possible correlation over the whole frequency range, and virtually identical sensitivity for immaculate three-dimensional recordings. Add the sE7 Electronics sE7 small diaphragm condenser microphone to your arsenal to unlock a whole new world of possibilities in the studio.
High-Quality Capsule for Clear, Natural Sound
With its meticulously crafted condenser capsule, the sE Electronics sE7 is designed for a balanced, natural sound that preserves the subtle nuances of your performance. Boasting a remarkably neutral frequency response across the audible spectrum, the sE7 delivers silky smooth highs and a punchy low end. Its ultra-thin diaphragm and innovative back-electret design provide superior transient response, capturing sound sources in stunning detail. The condenser’s cardioid polar pattern is reliably consistent over a wide range of frequencies, making it an ideal mic for everything from drum overheads to brass and woodwinds. Built for focused sound pickup and superior noise rejection, the sE7 is a versatile tool both in the studio and on stage.
Discrete Electronics for a Wide Dynamic Range
The sE7 employs state-of-the-art discrete class-A circuitry and low-noise components to deliver effortless performance and an exceptional dynamic range. The dynamic range is further extended by engaging the mic’s 20dB preattenuation pad. Raising the max SPL to an astounding 156dB, this switchable pad allows you to close-mic even the loudest sources—from blaring horns and screaming guitar cabinets to firecracker snares—without overloading your preamp or mixer. The sE7’s integrated 80Hz high-pass filter is another invaluable tool when it comes to close-miking sources. Switch it on to compensate for excessive bass, roll off unwanted low-frequency rumble and eliminate footfall noise.
Transformerless Technology for Pristine Sound
With its transformerless output and short signal path, the sE7 is impressively silent. In fact, with a self-noise of just 16dB-A, it’s the quietest pencil microphone in its class. The transformerless design ensures pristine sound quality, allowing the sE7 to capture a diverse array of instruments with excellent clarity and depth. While the sE7 is rugged enough to handle the highest of volumes, it’s also capable of rendering quiet sources in impeccable detail. With its low self-noise and super clear sound, the sE7 is a solid choice for delicate string arrangements, softly fingerpicked acoustics and even whispered vocals—although you may want to use the included windscreen to minimize plosives.
Rugged Build for Reliable Performance
Boasting robust construction and a roadworthy all-metal housing capped with a sturdy metal mesh grille, the sE Electronics sE7 is built to withstand the rigors of live performance and the professional studio. The rugged metal chassis also rejects electrical interference and noise, making this small-diaphragm condenser a bulletproof go-to in any scenario. Brilliantly gleaming at the base of the sE7, the gold-plated XLR output provides a loss-free signal you can rely on for years of daily use. And with its high-quality, scratch-resistant matte black finish, you can rest assured that the sE7 will look and sound great for countless gigs to come.

Got these to record singing bowls, whistles and overtone flutes, but will also definitely use them to mic speaker cabinets and record vocals! The high pass / low cut feature is nice to have and works well, and the sound quality is excellent.

I've had a couple of weekends now to really test out these microphones in a variety of contexts and I've been pleasantly surprised every time. Whether I'm recording acoustic guitar, a guitar cab, or even Trumpet- these microphones offer excellent clarity and very nuanced capture of the sound source. SE constantly impresses me with the quality of their products and these SDCS are no exception. #sweepstakes
