Almost Like A Workout Stick

Been Using the Ahead 2Bs for a while and wanted something a bit heavier since all the drumsticks make are either 0.540" or 0.595" diameter, I went with the XL Rock since they were a 0.620" diameter (I normally use either a Vic Firth 2B or Rock model) so I was anxious to try these and they pretty much did the job well except for the fact that they are a bit too heavy. These weigh in at 77grams (according to Ahead's site) while the other 2B sticks weigh in at 63 grams. I think these would be a lot more ideal even for a heavy hitter like myself if they weight slightly less at around 70 grams. Other than that the Sticks are pretty solid for now. Also with they would make these with a short taper option as well instead of solely super short taper. These feel as close to marching sticks as you can get since they are really heavy in comparison to other similar sized sticks (aluminum or wood alike)
awesome!!!

i absolutely love these Ahead sticks. 5 stars easily. i got them in the mail about 2 days after i ordered them, too. the only thing about them is the weight. my forearms fatigue when i'm playing fast songs (like wipe-out), but other than that i love them. the plastic cover allows more of a wood-like sound but also harder hitting with protection of your cymbals and sticks. i reccomend these to everyone, except in a smaller size.
so far so good

i typically play hickory rock sticks (.63"x16 5/8") because i mostly play loud music. i let my fingers and the weight of the stick do most of the work to avoid fatigue. my source of cheap bulk vic firth and vater cosmetic defect sticks dried up so i figured i'ld give these a try. these cost the same as 10 bulk sticks, so made the investment. i had to weight the bulk sticks with a digital scale to match a pair, and the weights ranged from 55 grams up to 79 grams depending on the density of the wood. i couldn't find any information online about the weight of these sticks, which made me concerned, but these come it at 78 grams each. on the heavy side of the stick spectrum, but they have a good balance and feel and don't get spongy or splintered like after playing a few sessions. so far they've held up. in the future i may get their standard size rock sticks. make sure you super glue the tips on as they recommend.
