Aquarian

collapse expand iconDescription

The Reflector line of heads, inspired by drumming great Eric Moore, feature a new 2-Ply Hybrid Film combination that enhances the stick attack when played at higher volumes. These heads are meant to be played hard, fast and with passion. A new 17 mil Aquarian Hybrid film combination makes Reflector heads more articulate, deliberate and durable.

The bottom ply of this drum head series uses Aquarian's special 10 mil black drum head film which is denser and brighter than their standard drum head material. The Reflector top layer uses Aquarian’s Classic Clear 7 mil drum head film for warmth.

The result is a head that is warm and musical at low volumes, bright and more articulate when played hard. The unique 17 mil Reflector hybrid combination is what makes this head durable and deliberate.

This new hybrid construction diffracts and reflects the light, which results in a slightly “black mirrored” appearance. The reflective black mirror finish, combined with the muted Satin Black Logos, give these drum heads a stunning visual effect and adds even more of the drummer’s personality to their setup.

I love it so far, nice warm tone, somewhat muted attack, requires no dampening, comparable to the similar Evans and Remo heads, have now outfitted my second kit with a full compliment of these heads on the toms

  • Great head for hard hitters that like a deep tone.

I'd admit that I went out on a limb buying these. I'm currently playing in a rock band but in more recent years had played more rockabilly/psycobilly type music. I'm fond of coated heads (G2's, and Vintage Emperors, specifically) but wanted to try something different and thought I'd give Aquarian another run (used performance series long ago and liked them). I want to be fair with this rating because I bought them because I was intrigued by them. Part of my slight hesitation to rate them highly is because of my love for my previous set of Vintage Emperors. Bottom line, they're great heads and I'm putting aside my personal taste and telling you what I think they are and what they'll excel at. If you are a hard hitting rock drummer, you will likely love these... I'm sure I'll grow to like them more as I use them. If you like Pinstripes, EC2's, or Aquarian's own performance II's, these IMHO are a superior head. They tuned very easily (I'm running clear ambassadors for resonant on Mapex Meridian Maple). They have a nice fat, deep, defined tone and a great attack. For the right genre, I do believe they will become quite popular. Any sense that I don't like these heads is caused by the adjustment I'm making from what I usually play. These really are great but they're a different animal than a lot of what's currently out there. For what they are, they really are great.
