I notice a ring around the edge of these drumheads. Is it some kind of solution applied between the plies (like Remo Pinstripe heads), or is it something outside of the plies? And how many inches from the point of contact with the drum's bearing edge does it come in (1"? 1.5"?) (Or what's the diameter inside this ring?), specifically for the 16"?
The ring you observe around the edge of the Attack Proflex 2 Heavy Clear 16" drumhead is not an internal solution between the plies, like the one found in Remo Pinstripe heads. Instead, it is an external feature known as the "Tone Ridge." This ridge is built directly into the head, resembling stacked "O" rings or "Zero Rings," and serves to dampen overtones and provide a more controlled sound. The Tone Ridge is positioned close to the edge of the drumhead, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches from the bearing edge, though exact measurements can vary slightly.
