Mega Tone mouthpieces employ more than double the mass of ordinary models to produce the darker sound cherished by many jazz and symphonic players. A slightly larger throat affords less resistance and greater flexibility resulting in warmer, more powerful sound.

I can describe this thing in one word: heavy. The sound is incredible, it's warm and dark. I marched this mouthpiece in a sousaphone all the way through grand nationals for a year, and now have played two years of concert performances on it. one really nice thing is that the cup is so heavy that, if/when dropped, it tends to land on the cup, not the shank, and the cup will never dent. this mouthpiece is a tank. well worth the money in my opinion, and my next mouthpiece will no doubt be another one of these
