The coloring wasn't as bold as it looks in the picture, but it plays exceptionally well for both acoustic and electric

Always wanted an electric violin but didn't want to break the bank. This was the perfect in between point. Violin is a beautiful vibrant color, well done finishing gloss with great craftsmanship of the entire instrument. Pegs are ever so slightly loose and may require a little more pushing in while tuning but otherwise works well. Stock strings are okay but would highly recommend replacing with higher quality strings for better sound. Used in two shows, one was a rock performance playing Devil Went Down to Georgia and sound was excellent (per crowd) with stock strings and next was a more artistic and orchestrated performance, sounded even better with higher quality strings. Practices are great with or without amp. Would purchase another one in a heartbeat.

What is a "blemish" in a discounted Barcus Berry AE VIOLIN, and does it affect the tone quality or durability of the construction of the violin?

We have two. One is a scratch and dent - Scratch & Dent This gear was returned in good working condition with one or more scratches or dents, typical of an instrument that's seen normal wear and tear. It's a great choice if you're looking for performance and value and can overlook cosmetic flaws. Does not include full manufacturer's warranty Includes Free 2-Year Warranty on guitars and basses Includes 45-Day No Hassle Returns The other is in mint condition - Mint This gear was returned in mint condition. If you're looking for a virtually new instrument in possibly less-than-perfect packaging, this is a great value. Includes full manufacturer's warranty Includes Free 2-Year Warranty on guitars and basses Includes 45-Day No Hassle Returns
