Good but don't last

I bought one of these when i bought my bass last summer and it worked great for about 6 months an then it stopped working. It wouldn't pass any sound through it even when the circuit breaker was pressed. Since there is a lifetime warranty on these i took it back and got a brand new one and it has worked fine for the past 6 or 7 months but now it has totally died. Another problem is that the cable is so stiff, it kinks up if you move too much and can be a pain to untangle. Great idea for a product, just not durable enough.

Horrible

The circuit breaker part is a great idea and workds great. The problem is that the rubber/plastic used for the cable is absolutely the wrong substance to use for a guitar cable. If never had such a bad experience with any other instrument cable I've ever purchased. It instantly becomes wound around itself from the slightest movement. Leaving about 2' of slack from a 10' cable. I spend more time untangling the cable than I do playing through it.

Product has changed but part number did not , The old ones were great but the new ones tangle and come unplugged producing a popping noise. Button is small and hard to hold in to break the circuit. Total disappointment

The cable quality is very good as expected. However the description of the switch operation is wrong. It has a Momentary ON/OFF switch (As stated on the packaging) not a Click ON/Click Off switch as described on Guitar Center's website which reads: "When the button is pushed, the cable shorts while remaining plugged into your guitar, making on-stage guitar changes a snap, and eliminating any chance of sound bursts. Once the cable is shorted, remove the cable from the guitar being used and plug the cable into the next instrument. Press the button again to reactivate the cable signal." The correct description from D'Addario's web Site reads: "D'Addario Circuit Breaker cables feature an integrated mute switch that prevents loud pops or squeals when unplugging your instrument. Simply press and hold the button to activate the mute function, and unplug. When you're plugged in and ready to go, release the button to reactivate sound." Accurate descriptions are important to online buyers. 2 Star Penalty!

I would not want to use any other cord. It allows you to turn of the cord and swithch guitars without haveing to remove the cord from your amp or going to the amp to turn it off.

I'm an actively gigging musician (average 2 shows per month for several years) and I use this cable exclusively from my guitar into my pedalboard for 5+ years. I change guitars frequently and the circuit breaker is a much better option over constantly throwing the standby switch (which, over time, will damage the amp and/or speaker). The cable should be wrapped properly after use or you could encounter minor issues with kinking. I did have an issue a few years back with a bad plug, but since this cable has a LIFETIME WARRANTY I brought it back to GC and exchanged it, no questions asked. I recommend this cable for anyone, especially the active musician.

This is THE best thing to have on a gig, especially if you own several guitars (as I do) and change them during the set. No more loud, obnoxious noise when you do. Just "disable" the cable and you're good to go!
