DW Front-Ported Bass Drum Head With Logo 24 in.

Great inexpensive snare bag!

I've only had this head on for about three weeks, but it's doing the trick. It's been many years since I've had a resonant bass head without a mic hole and I'm loving it! This was all that was available when I was younger, but the opposite is much more prevalent now, that being resonant heads with mic holes provided. I had forgotten that a bass drum sounds more like............a drum, and less like a cardboard box, when it has a resonant head with no mic hole. I have my kick sounding amazing now and find it to have a much greater tuning range with a solid resonant head. For those that review resonant heads with no mic hole and say you can't mike these heads, I question their knowledge (or that of those with which they're working) of micing, and/or their ability to tune a drum. To each his own on sound, but I'll never buy another bass resonant head with a mic hole. Cheers!

I ordered my DWs in 2011 bubinga finish gold plated hardware was not sure if if I would keep front ported head on since I always used a port hole ,I put on a evans emad on batter side and used a muffel pillow inside , to my surprise my bass sounds like a cannon and have that nice Bonham sound now I know a lot drummers don't like this head ,but it all matters on taste and the sound you are looking for ,it sounds great for all types of music.

I am sure DW thought it would be a great idea to port this head around the edge of the head with tiny little holes, but the reality is that this head has no punch and does not sound very good when mic'd. I plan to replace the one that came on my kit asap. I would not recommend this head.
