I've got a lot of guitars and will likely buy many more in my lifetime. Danelectro had never been on my radar. I always thought they looked quirky and a bit weird with the lipstick pickups. However, I recently was on vacation and visited a little music store that had a couple of new Danelectros on display (neither were this model). I picked one up and was quite impressed with the build quality, the neck, and the playability. The sound was also unlike anything in my collection. The light weight was a welcome benefit as well, as I'm primarily a Les Paul guy. I didn't buy the one at that little shop because they were asking more than retail for some reason. But I couldn't stop thinking about how great it felt. I started looking at the various models from Danelectro and landed on this one in the gold top finish. It is absolutely gorgeous! The color in the photo makes it look more yellow than in person. Setup out of the box was pretty darn good. Intonation is slightly off on one string but not enough to worry about at the moment. It sounds great unplugged and is an absolute joy to play. The pickups sound good, but I will likely swap them out for a set of Seymour Duncan lipstick pickups because I love their products and have them in quite a few of my guitars. I'm definitely a new fan of Danelectro and I recommend trying one for yourself. I think you'll love it!
