EVH Introduces Two New Wolfgang® Special Finishes

EVH® Wolfgang® Special QM Demo

Description
The EVH Wolfgang Special electric guitar represents over 35 years of Eddie Van Halen's experience and innovation distilled into an instrument primed for serious rock. This Wolfgang Special features a basswood body and robust graphite-reinforced maple neck for immense sustain and a fluid playing feel. Custom-designed EVH humbucking pickups deliver a crystalline tone with endless sustain for power chords and solos. A Floyd Rose locking tremolo and nut maintain precise tuning even through the most extreme whammy bar use. The EVH D-Tuna allows for quick drop D tuning at the flick of a finger.
High-Speed Neck and Fingerboard
The Wolfgang Special's quartersawn maple neck and ebony fingerboard were crafted and shaped to Eddie Van Halen's exacting standards, providing a fast playing feel ideal for energetic riffing and shredding. Its 12"–16" compound radius ebony fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets facilitate huge bends without affecting tone.
Direct-Mounted EVH Humbuckers
The Wolfgang Special's custom-designed EVH humbucking pickups are mounted directly to the basswood body, producing a thick yet sparkling tone with virtually endless sustain. These pickups deliver the power and articulation needed for everything from crunchy power chords to searing solos.
Performance-Focused Components
Every feature of the Wolfgang Special was selected and designed for high-speed playing. Its low-friction volume knob allows for fast, violin-like volume swells, while its tone knob resists unwanted changes in tone during energetic playing. The EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo and nut provide rock-solid tuning stability for extreme whammy bar use.
A Guitarist's Dream
Eddie Van Halen's decades of experience and experimentation have been distilled into the Wolfgang Special, a guitar that places highly responsive performance and tone into any player's hands. With stunning style, massive sound and effortless playability, this shred machine begs to be unleashed.

What I expected and more.
I waited two months for this guitar and finally received it today. Mine is the Vintage White/natural maple fretboard. Play it through an EVH 50W combo amp. Out of the box the finish is beautiful. No imperfections anywhere. I've read other reviews where the primary complaint was that the setup was terrible. Mine is perfect and the intonation is right on the spot. Aside from being out of tune it took me just a few minutes to begin playing. I'm used to a narrow thin neck like on my Ibanez RG. This isn't as narrow or thin but I have no problem so far with fast scales. The Drop D-Tuna is tonally accurate when you activate and re-activate the switch on the trem. Great for metal. Pickups sound great. According to the manual and legend that Eddie likes his bridge pickup in the up position, mine is in the standard down position. It doesn't come with a case but you can find EVH cases on the internet. If I had one complaint thus far and it's pretty minor and that's the Floyd is surface mounted which limits you to only dive bomb in the downward motion. You can't crank it up from the neutral position. Other than that it's fine. I've played a USA made Wolfgang. As far as I can tell this Mexican made one has all the same hardware as the US one. The finish quality is the same and the pickups are the same. It's just made in a different country and costs a third of the price as the US version. I would recommend this to a friend that's into Hard Rock or Metal.

No quality control
Large clouded area in the paint and the nut was not cut properly. High E string would slip right off the edge of the fret board. My first Mexican built guitar and it will be the last.

Since I got my Wolfgang Special, I haven't even picked up any of my other guitars. I love this thing, there are so many tone options and it plays like a dream. I have read reviews where people were not happy with theirs due to flaws in the finish, or hardware issues. Sorry for them, but mine was perfect right out of the box. Just a little set up, and it was good to go. I have been looking at these guitars for a while now, and I am so glad I finally pulled the trigger and got one!

Not really sure why I waited this long to get a wolfgang special. I have many evh guitars and have a wolfgang standard. Bottom line this guitar is the best. Some craftsmanship issues but once you get past that and either tweak or get a new one you will be better than pleased. Such a different guitar than the standard. Was so happy bought a 2nd one
