What kind of strings, and is it E A D G C? Is the acoustic sound quality good enough to play in an Orchestra? What kind of cable is needed to connect to an amplifier etc.? Does the location get in the way of the front of the throat when holding under the chin?
This 5-string viola extends the traditional four-string setup by adding a high E string, resulting in the following tuning: C (lowest) G D A E (highest) This configuration allows the player to access the violin's upper register while retaining the viola's rich lower tones, offering a broader range for diverse musical expressions. Crafted from aged European tonewoods—specifically a solid German spruce top and German maple back and sides—the VA7015 Series+ is known for its warm, resonant, and balanced tone. The hand-applied antique-style, multi-layer spirit varnish not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also contributes to its acoustic properties. These features make it suitable for orchestral settings, chamber music, and solo performances. The viola comes equipped with an integrated pickup system embedded into the spruce top, allowing for amplified performances without compromising its acoustic integrity. It features a discreet 3.5 mm output jack integrated into the endpin. A 10-foot 3.5 mm to 1/4" cable is included, enabling direct connection to amplifiers, PA systems, or recording equipment. This setup ensures a seamless transition between acoustic and amplified play. The design of the VA7015 Series+ maintains the traditional feel of a viola. The integrated pickup system and output jack are designed to be unobtrusive, ensuring they do not interfere with standard playing posture or comfort when held under the chin. The instrument's balance and weight distribution are crafted to provide a comfortable playing experience, even during extended sessions.
