EVANS

collapse expand iconDescription

The EVANS EC Reverse Dot Coated snare batter head delivers a balanced tone for snare drums. Featuring two plies of film—7-mil top and 10-mil bottom—this drum head provides durability and sensitivity at all tuning ranges and playing dynamics. With EVANS' proprietary sound shaping technology, the EC Reverse Dot eliminates unwanted midrange frequencies for a focused sound with crisp highs and lows. The reverse dot patch in the center of the head accentuates attack and gives extra durability where drummers typically strike the hardest.

Sound Shaping Technology Shapes a Clean, Articulate Tone

EVANS' innovative sound shaping system enhances the tonal quality of the EC Reverse Dot. Edge control rings on the underside of the head reduce midrange frequencies that can muddy the overall sound. The result is a head with clear highs, resonant lows and an articulate attack. This technology, combined with the reverse dot patch, provides drummers with greater tonal control and definition across all areas of the drum head.

Two-Ply Design Delivers Sensitivity and Durability

The EC Reverse Dot features two plies of film for an ideal balance of sensitivity and durability. The 7-mil top ply and 10-mil bottom ply provide enough thickness to produce a full, resonant tone at higher tunings and withstand rimshots during aggressive playing. However, the plies are thin enough that drummers can still achieve a wide range of tunings and play with subtlety and nuance. The reverse dot patch adds extra durability where drummers typically strike the hardest.

Coated Finish Enhances Warmth and Attack

The EC Reverse Dot has a coated finish that naturally boosts warmth, enhances attack and reduces unwanted overtones. The textured coating helps produce a richer, fuller tone that cuts through in live and recording environments. Despite the thickness from the two-ply design and reverse dot, this head has a smooth feel that makes ghost notes, rimshots and center strikes easy to execute with precision.

Sizes to Fit Most Snare Drums

The EVANS EC Reverse Dot Coated snare batter head in a wide range of sizes to suit snare drums of all depths and diameters. From 10" up to 14", drummers can find an EC Reverse Dot to suit their exact needs and preferences.

AMAZING HEAD!

This is an amazing head. I had the worst snare ever. It was one of those stock ones that comes with me pearl set and it had this horrible ring on the stock head that came with it and I could never get that nice pop and crack with it. I put this head on and there was no more ring and I got that crack I was looking for. The only reason I gave the quality a 4.5 was because there were a few small holes in it when I got it. But other than that, this is the perfect head to buy if you want to make your bad snare sound alot better.

Ehhhh

I picked up this head because it was recommended to me by a friend. I had just recently bought 14" by 6" pork Pie beech snare that I absolutely fell in love with. I played with the stock head for a couple weeks before I decided to use my reverse dot. Long story short the pork Pie stock head sounded 10x better than the Evans head. For some reason it was very difficult for me to tune and when I did find the sound I liked it was only in the center of the drum. If you hit it anywhere else it is dead with no tone what so ever. I'm pretty disappointed so next I'll be trying out the temp coated ambassador.

I love the fact that my local Guitar Center carries Evans heads as normal stock and can order them on the fly and get them in the store in 2 days.

I love this head. I have problems with my joints, and something about how the sticks rebound off the reverse dot portion without too much reverberation has really helped improve my overall delivery and lessen my pain. It also sounds so good, pops without being too sharp.

I've been playing Evans heads for many years, it was time to upgrade my snare batter head, and I decided on this one. I love the look and the sounds I get from this head. Highly recommend giving this a try if you haven't yet.

I have been trying to dial in my snare on my first ever drum kit. I've never played before, and this was recommended to me. It has a good crack or pop to it. It might be too much for some, but I am still learning to tune them. I definitely think it is an upgrade to my original PDP one.
