The EMAD is a 10-mil, single-ply with two interchangeable damping rings that maximize attack and low end. The coating adds additional warmth, focus and depth.

    I have used these batters on both a birch set and a maple set. (Used black on the birch set.) Neither drum requires further dampening when these heads are in use. Nice tone with both sets depending upon your taste. These heads are the best I have found for the age old problem of dampening the kick drum without losing so much tonal quality it sounds like a cardboard box.
