EVANS

collapse expand iconDescription

The Evans GMAD Clear Batter Bass Drumhead is built to handle the demands of any playing style. The GMAD features a 12-mil film— Evans' thickest single-ply film—for increased durability and volume. Its unparalleled Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping (EMAD) system allows drummers to control attack and tone by selecting one of two removable damping rings. The GMAD provides a blend of depth, punch and resonance that suits drummers of all genres.

Heavy-Duty 12-Mil Film Withstands Powerful Playing

The GMAD's 12-mil film is Evans' thickest single-ply drumhead film, designed to handle aggressive playing styles. Its thickness provides added strength and volume, allowing drummers to play with power and confidence. Despite its durability, the GMAD maintains an open, resonant tone with plenty of low end. The 12-mil film is a versatile choice for drummers who want a single-ply sound with the power and projection to cut through loud mixes.

Adjustable Damping Provides Customized Sound

The GMAD features Evans' renowned EMAD damping system, which allows drummers to adjust attack and tone by selecting one of two removable foam rings. The thinner ring focuses the tone while allowing resonance, ideal for punchy, articulate playing. The wider ring maximizes attack and low end, perfect for aggressive styles. Drummers can easily swap between the two rings to customize their sound for different songs or venues. The EMAD system puts tone shaping at drummers' fingertips, allowing them to craft their ideal bass drum sound.

Level 360 Collar For Easy Tuning

Evans' Level 360 collar makes the GMAD easy to tune and helps it seat properly on bass drums. The Level 360's continuous contact area provides even tension and a wide tuning range, allowing drummers to achieve their desired tone. Quick, accurate tuning is crucial for dialing in the perfect bass drum sound and the Level 360 collar helps drummers get there in less time.

A Versatile Choice for All Drummers

With its blend of power, depth and adjustability, the GMAD is a versatile choice for drummers of all styles. Its single-ply 12-mil film provides volume and projection suited to louder genres, while its EMAD damping rings allow drummers to tailor the tone for any situation. Available in sizes from 18" to 26", the GMAD gives drummers a durable, customizable bass drumhead to rely on for all their playing needs.

I hate this head so much that I found a 10 year old head that I had to put on the drum

  • It works but depends on the brand of kick drum.

I wanted to get a lower fundamental note on it and to replace the stock batter head that came with my Ludwig classic maple 20 in bassdrum. The head fits really well and appears solid. The problem is that it sits lower on the bearing edge. I wanted to tighten it up a little more for my taste but I had no more tension on the lugs. I thought, whoa. I was unable to tighten the head up. The lugs were flush and that was it. So.....will see if I can take it back even though I already installed the beater patch. Guess I'll look into Remo at least for my Luddy kit.

I upgraded to this head from the stock heads that came with my new set. With sooooo many options for drum heads to choose from, I was not disappointed! The head gave my kick new life - it was deep, and boomy with a quick attack and decay.

  • Fantastic sounding Head!!!

These heads are almost like cheating!! Very little effort needed to get a killer deep thud out of your kick drum. I have one on both an old 80's Ludwig 24" and an acrylic DDrum 22". Fantastic sound and dynamics on both!! Love it!

I visited a guitar center and asked if I could get a gmad head after doing some research online and wanting to try it. I had an emad years ago and now have a different kit which came with a power stroke 3. My local guitar center did not have it in stock, but they said they could order it and have it shipped to my home. It came and I noticed it has the new level 360 technology which was cool. I took the head and the included beater patch out and installed this baby. It took a little tuning to get it to sound just right (very loose resonant power stroke 3 with no sound hole) and just slight tension on this batter head. I used the smaller dampening ring and wow! This thing sounds great! Better than I expected. I would recommend this head. It has some sustain, very low bass note, and good attack. I believe the extra thickness over the original emad gives it better sound rather than that "knocking on a door" type sound. I'm more than happy.
