EVANS

collapse expand iconDescription

EVANS Red Hydraulic series drum heads feature a thin film of oil between two plies of 7-mil film offering maximum durability, a fat, deep and short sound pioneered by early '70s rock and roll. Hydraulics are famously easy to tune, making them a perfect fix for troublesome drums and players with little tuning experience.

Great product must be the oil in between and the fact that their 2ply for me I don't have to use muffler rings for tone control. Absolutely love the sound they produce kind of naturally wet or muffeled right out of the box.

  • I would buy again and have

I have used and still use Black Hydraulic heads there is a slight difference...black is 2ply 7.5/6.5 with oil the Red is 7.0/7.0 with oil...the Red seems to have a bit more tone. I think they both are great heads

  • I well buy again

I bought these for the damping factor. A little less volume, sustain and ringing for the recording studio. We also jam in the studio space which is not large, and the damping helps to keep the drums from being overwhelming. I added Evans EMAD (externally mounted adjustable damping) heads for the bass drum as well, and we are all very pleased with the tone and volume (on Gretsch Birch shells). The color is not without value. They just look cool. My set is burgundy, so the look is complete!

  • I like the hydraulic heads. In red is so cool.

Any difference between the sound of the blue hydraulic versus the red beside the color.
