These heads do a remarkable job of lowering your sets volume. The feedback is good however it's more "bouncy" than normal heads so be aware. I switched over to Evans SoundOff heads and Zildjian Low Volume cymbals to try and preserve some of my middle aged hearing (and have mercy on my family) after 30+ years of playing. They work great with one important caveat! DO NOT USE FELT BEATERS ON YOUR MESH BASS DRUM HEAD. Use wood or plastic (like the DW pedal that can be reversed to use either) since a felt beater will abrade (scrape or wear) the mesh until it breaks. I did not know that/was not informed about that and my head broke after 2-1/2 weeks of light use. I received a refund and now I will re-order one along with the AF (Aramid Fiber) Evans drum patch and most importantly "reverse my beater to the plastic side"!!!
