Exploring the American Acoustasonic All-Mahogany Collection | American Acoustasonic Series | Fender

collapse expand iconDescription

This innovative hybrid guitar blends acoustic and electric tones through its advanced electronics and solid mahogany construction. The American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's 3-pickup configuration includes an under-saddle piezo, Fishman under-saddle transducer, and Fender Acoustasonic Shawbucker magnetic pickup, providing a versatile range of acoustic and electric sounds accessible through its master volume and blend knob. Guitar players of all genres will find inspiration in the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's ability to shapeshift between acoustic shapes and electric rhythm tones.

Revolutionary Pickup System Delivers Endless Tonal Possibilities

At the heart of the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is its groundbreaking pickup system, co-designed by Fender and Fishman. The under-saddle piezo and internal body sensor pickups capture the guitar's acoustic resonance, while the bridge-position Acoustasonic Shawbucker provides vintage-style electric tones. Blend between the pickups using the blend knob to create sounds ranging from crisp acoustic to overdriven rock. A 5-way switch provides pickup selection, enabling musicians to quickly change tones on the fly.

All-Mahogany Body Resonates Like an Acoustic

The American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's offset body is crafted from solid mahogany, a dense tonewood that provides acoustic-level resonance without feedback. At 1.75" thick, the thinline body is lightweight and comfortable while still producing a full, resonant tone. A satin polyurethane finish protects the mahogany while allowing it to vibrate freely.

Familiar Electric Neck with Enhanced Playability

While the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster produces acoustic-quality tones, its neck has an electric feel familiar to most guitarists. The mahogany neck has a slim C-shaped profile and 25.5" scale length. The 12" radius ebony fretboard facilitates smooth playability across all 22 frets. Narrow tall frets provide extra clearance for aggressive techniques. A Graph Tech TUSQ nut and die-cast tuners keep the guitar in tune through heavy use.

Premium Features for Stage and Studio Use

This Acoustasonic Jazzmaster comes equipped with high-quality components suitable for performance and recording. It includes a durable deluxe gig bag for transport and storage. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries provide up to 20 hours of play time. All hardware is finished in chrome for a classic appearance and corrosion resistance.

This mahogany Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is an amazing guitar. First, the build quality is superb - it is gimpy gorgeous. Second, the neck and action are outstanding - it is a joy to play. Third, with three different pickup types, there are ten different adjustable voice settings (six acoustic and four electric), so the sound possibilities are almost endless. But make no mistake, this is an electric hollow body guitar. Playing unplugged is just ok for noodling about, as the sound is less than impressive. Plug it in though, and youza, what sound! A caveat here though, you need an amp that can act as an acoustic amp and electric amp to get the most out of the guitar (I play it through a Spark which is a perfect companion to maximize the guitar possibilities). With a foot switch, and the onboard selector switch, you can flip between acoustic and electric on the fly. The six acoustic tones are beautiful. The two piezo electric pickup settings produces a nice thick crunchy tone. And the Shawbucker pickup produces an awesome distorted sound, but doesn't have quite the low end as my Starcaster or Les Paul. Partly, this is because I replaced the Fender 11 strings that came on it with D'Addario 10s. But running through some pedals / effects fixes that right up. I highly recommend this instrument; however, you could end up disappointed if you don't pair it with the right electronic amplification. If you do, though, I think you'll be delighted.
