Fender's CD-140SCE dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar expands on its siblings' features with upgraded Fishman Presys electronics, ovangkol back and sides and the addition of a hardshell case. Its single-cutaway dreadnought body and solid spruce top provide robust tone, and the Easy-to-Play neck is comfortable for all playing styles. Topped off with a tortoiseshell pickguard and rosewood headcap, the CD-140SCE is ready for whatever you throw at it, at home or on the stage.

Top Wood

Spruce is the standard modern tonewood for fashioning the tops of acoustic guitars and other acoustic instruments—few woods can beat its strength, brightness and dynamic range, and it responds well to any acoustic playing style, from hard strumming to fast flatpicking to delicate fingerpicking.

Electronics

A Fishman Presys pickup/preamp system adds peerless amplified performance with a variety of onboard controls to your acoustic instrument without compromising its pure, rich and resonant tone. The built-in tuner is conveniently placed right where you can see it, making it easy to keep your intonation right on the money.

Graph Tech Nut and Saddle

Graph Tech string nuts and bridge saddles enhance the sustain, clarity and tonal consistency of an acoustic instrument. Neither too soft nor too brittle, they eliminate troublesome string binding while delivering performance, workability and appearance that easily outdoes other plastics, coming remarkably close to real bone.

    I chose this after researching beginner guitars. From what little I know about guitars I find this guitar comfortable and it sounds great. Having a hard case included is a big plus. It seems very well built with no visible flaws and a nice finish. I think I made the right choice and I think it's a great guitar for beginners who want quality but aren't ready to spend over $500.

    I apologize for the confusion. It includes the FENDER (E) CD60CASE CD60 SER HARDSHELL ACOUS CASE.

    Does this guitar ship already setup? I'm curious because I'm thinking of getting it as a Christmas gift in the future, and it would be best if it was ready to play (besides tuning of course) right out of the box for my son on Christmas morning. Thanks! :)

    It's shipped via manufacturer's specs so it will be playable. It is recommended a setup is done for optimal performance and personal preference, but it will be ready to go out of the box.
