Fender Player II Telecaster Electric Guitar | Demo and Overview with Julian Lage

Julian Lage on Improvising on the Fender Telecaster
Description
For guitarists seeking an instrument that delivers true Fender vibe and versatility, the Player II Telecaster is a go-to choice for a reason. This workhorse electric guitar honors Fender's innovative spirit while providing the timeless sound and feel that made the Telecaster an icon. With its punchy single-coil pickups, comfortable maple neck and twangy string-through-body bridge, the Player II Tele is built to inspire your creativity session after session.

Authentic Fender Tone With Player Series Pickups
At the heart of the Player II Telecaster's distinct character are a pair of Player Series single-coil pickups. These Alnico 5 Tele pickups serve up the crisp, articulate tone that put Fender on the map, while a modern edge translates the classic sound for today's music. The bridge pickup cuts through a band mix with its signature bite and twang. Dial in the neck pickup for warmer, rounded tones perfect for jazz or blues explorations. Together, these pickups provide the versatility to authentically cover any genre.

Smooth Playability With a Modern Neck
The Player II Telecaster's maple or rosewood neck sports a comfortable, contemporary C-shaped profile that caters to virtually any playing style or hand size. Rolled fingerboard edges enhance the smooth playing feel, as your fretting hand dances across the 22 medium-jumbo frets. The 9.5" radius encourages effortless string bends. Even during marathon sessions, the neck's satin finish avoids stickiness to keep you inspired. From intricate chording to fiery leads, this guitar's premium playability empowers you to truly express yourself.

String-Through-Body Bridge
Contributing to the Telecaster's iconic tone is its string-through-body bridge design, enhanced here with bent steel saddles for precise intonation. As the strings load directly onto the body, you'll experience increased resonance and sustain that lets single notes ring out seemingly forever. The twangy bite synonymous with a Tele cuts through even the densest mixes without getting lost. Whether chiming chords or overdriven riffs, your sound projects with a vibrant, articulate presence.

Balanced Tone and Feel From a Chambered Ash Body
While the Player II retains a Telecaster's familiar feel, its chambered ash body provides a modern update. The semi-hollow design promotes resonance and sustain, while reducing weight for enhanced playing comfort—especially during long gigs. Fender's gloss polyester finish protects the ash's striking grain patterns. With its iconic Tele styling, and lightweight yet lively character, this instrument was made to inspire night after night on the stage or in the studio.
For a guitar that captures the essence of Fender while empowering your artistic vision, strap on the Player II Telecaster. Its flexible single-coil tones, signature styling and premium playability make this an ideal companion whether you're a genre-hopping pro or an enthusiast looking to take their skills to new heights. This one was a gem. I had planned to replace the pickups immediately before I bought it, but after having it for a few weeks I'm actually enjoying it as is. It exceeded my expectations.
Just…Wow!

So I'm not a tele guy though I've owned a few and as you go through life you realize that sometimes you just need that spank so… I bought this guitar from GC (someone had returned it) used and omg!! The neck is second to none, if you e never played a guitar with rolled edges…it's a huge plus! It's as light as my fender thinline. Pickups are great, it just ticked all my boxes, I needed to do a setup (again it was used). The one drawback is I can't put it down, all my other guitars are now in jeopardy of being cut from the team
I would definitely buy another if I needed to

Very Light weight and has a nice vintage tone to it. Very Jazzy in the neck pickup, Funky in the middle and a twangy Bridge. The chambering on mine turns it into a thinline in my opinion in terms of tone without the feedback of an F-hole. This guitar will be hard to part with,...IJS

Love the chambered ash. Lightest and most resonant guitar I own. Nut was misaligned--had to replace. Otherwise, fit and finish, including fretwork--rolled edges, are terrific. Replaced the bridge and saddles with a Callaham vintage bridge, simply for aesthetic reasons as I'm not a fan of block saddles.
