Introducing the Gibson Acoustic Specials – J-45, Hummingbird & L-00 Special

Gibson

collapse expand iconDescription

The Gibson Hummingbird Special acoustic-electric guitar is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, capturing the essence of a legendary instrument while embracing the needs of the modern player. Introduced in 1960, the Hummingbird quickly became a beloved icon, prized for its warm, balanced tone, comfortable feel and distinctive aesthetics. This meticulously crafted rendition, built in Bozeman, Montana, honors the legacy of the original while incorporating contemporary features, making it a perfect choice for discerning players who seek a guitar that resonates with the soul of a vintage instrument while delivering the performance and versatility demanded by today's music.

Solid Spruce and Mahogany Construction

The Hummingbird Special is crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. This classic combination of tonewoods delivers a balanced and resonant sound with a warm low end, clear highs and excellent dynamic range. The solid construction ensures that the guitar's tone will mature and improve over time, becoming richer and more complex with age.

Comfortable Round Neck Profile

The utile neck features a comfortable Round profile, providing a familiar and comfortable feel that's ideal for both strumming and fingerstyle playing. The rosewood fingerboard with its 12" radius and pearloid parallelogram inlays offers a smooth and responsive playing surface, while the 20 standard frets provide ample range for exploring your musical ideas.

LR Baggs Electronics for Stage and Studio

The Hummingbird Special comes equipped with an LR Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle piezo pickup and active preamp system. This high-quality electronics package delivers a natural and transparent amplified tone, making the Hummingbird Special stage and studio-ready. The easily accessible soundhole-mounted volume control allows for quick adjustments on the fly.

Iconic Hummingbird Design

The Hummingbird Special retains the iconic square-shouldered body shape and classic Hummingbird aesthetics that have made it a favorite among musicians for generations. The "concert depth" body is slightly thinner than a standard Hummingbird, providing a comfortable feel and a slightly tighter bass response that sits perfectly in a mix. The single-ply cream binding adds a touch of elegance, while the Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure rock-solid tuning stability. The simplified Hummingbird pickguard graphics pay homage to the original while adding a modern touch.

A Versatile and Inspiring Acoustic-Electric

The Gibson Hummingbird Special acoustic-electric guitar is a versatile and inspiring instrument that is perfect for players of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting your musical journey, the Hummingbird Special delivers exceptional tone, playability and value. With its classic design, premium materials and modern electronics, the Hummingbird Special is a guitar that will inspire you for years to come.

Slim profile makes it considerably more comfortable to play. Unplugged it's got great tone, bass, and resonance. Plugged into your amp of choice, this thing rocks and sounds like a guitar that's considerably more expensive. Gibson's upped their game once again
