Gibson Slash Core Collection Guitars | NAMM 2020

Description
The Gibson Slash Les Paul Standard conjures the influential tone of Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash. Its solid mahogany body and AAA figured maple top provide warmth and clarity, while a comfortable C-shaped neck allows for effortless solos. Custom Burstbucker Alnico II pickups deliver the midrange crunch and sustain Slash is known for. Handwired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors reproduce a vintage vibe. Color-coordinated hardware, Slash's signature on the truss rod cover, and his "Scully" drawing on the back of the headstock complete the package. Available at Guitar Center, the Slash Les Paul Standard is a must-have for any serious rock guitarist.
Custom Pickups Provide Slash's Signature Sustain
The Slash Les Paul Standard features SlashBucker humbuckers for the chunky yet articulate tone Slash relies on. With a moderate output, these pickups saturate your amp with rich harmonics and endless sustain. The bridge pickup delivers tight, crunchy rhythms, while the neck pickup produces warm, vocal leads. Roll back the volume for a cleaner sound or flip the three-way toggle switch to tap into both pickups at once.
Handwired Electronics Capture Vintage Warmth
To recreate the tone of Slash's original Les Pauls, the Slash Les Paul Standard uses handwired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors. These components are carefully soldered together by expert technicians to provide better transparency and frequency response. The end result is a livelier, more open tone with rich lows, clear highs, and an uncompressed midrange.
The Look and Feel of a Rock Legend
From its amber-colored finish to the Slash signature truss rod cover, every detail of the Slash Les Paul Standard was approved by the guitarist himself. The contoured mahogany body and fast-playing neck feel familiar yet road-worthy. Aged trapezoid inlays, color-matched pickguard and pickup rings, and gold hardware complete the vintage-inspired esthetic. Weighing in at just nince pounds, this Les Paul balances comfort and sustain for an all-night rock session.
Additional Premium Appointments
The Slash Les Paul Standard comes with a custom hardshell case, an owner's manual and a Gibson's Gold Warranty. It is set up with Slash's preferred string gauge and includes four of his Jim Dunlop Tortex picks. A custom Ernie Ball strap provides the final touch of rock star style.

Update and Specs
These are spec details missing from Gibson's website and a follow up to the first review here. *Case - Shipped with the brown throwback case w/red interior, has big Gibson logo on the front. This is a 5 latch, locking case with gold hardware. Super impressed with the fitment between case and guitar. If I had a loaded case and it did a face plant from an upright position I'm reasonable sure that it would survive w/out a neck break. If it were a nun it just could get any tighter up in there. *SlashBucker Pickups - 8.54K on the bridge, 8.25K on the neck, 4.20K both - They seem a little less hot than my SD Alnico II pro pickups that are loaded in another Les Pau, using the same caps btw, but these are more pleasing and I can get more tonal variations out of this one. *Caps - Sprague Orange Drops 0.022uF in neck/bridge. *Color - This is important as the name may turn some people/potential customers off. Currently both Gibson and GC list this model as the "Appetite Burst". With "Burst" in the name some may be inclined to have second thoughts or just miss it completely if doing a search query, a "Burst" just isn't everyones jam. It may sound nit picky, but if you're trying to use descriptive marketing terms, it kind of misses the mark from a descriptive perspective, It pays to sweat the details. The bottom line here is that this is not a burst Les Paul, it's solid amber with no light/dark tint or blush anywhere. I believe it's actually called "Appetite Amber". *Playability - Gibson says that it ships with 10 gauge strings. They feels like .009's to me and maybe they ran out of 10's and I got a set of 9's installed when she got strung up, idk. If they are 10's then the factory setup is incredible. String bends are super easy, action is perfect and the Intonation is spot on, all I needed to do was tune and go. Absolutely zero finish finish issues, looks like a million dollars and plays like butter. Revising previous 4 stars to 5.

Fantastic guitar build but less than stellar A2 pickups
Lets start off by saying Gibson USA is back and better than ever! Ive owned 4 Les Pauls since the whole resurrection happened in late 2019. Amazing attention to details and all of them had that sought out resonance U want in a LP. The pickups are less than stellar especially in this Slash Model I purchased.. Being a huge Slash fan and owning both the APH1 and APH2 Slash signatures, these A2 Burstbuckers are fizzy and not like the SD that are the actual pickups Slash uses.. At any rate, not spending over 2K again to spend another $200 to fix this issue..Returning back to the store.. Ordered Online and took a chance and close but no cigar.

The whole experience with GC was amazing. They truly cared about my order. I am satisfied at the end. Guitar is just perfect. The whole Slash line is outstanding. Neck feels amazing, the pickups are hot enough for doing any type of metal.

So, I have NEVER been a Gibson person. I always went towards PRS if I wanted a "Gibson" instrument that was built well. However, I purchased a 2023 Slash November Burst and I am honestly impressed with the quality of the instrument! NO tool marks on the fingerboard. The binding is PERFECT.... The finish in smooth and error free. When I opened the control compartment, it was SPOTLESS!! The wiring and soldiering was actually impressive. This is an area of excellent American made Gibson instruments. Take advantage of the opportunity!! Who knows when it will happen again??

This might be one of the highest quality Les Paul Gibson has made in over a decade. My gold top Plays like a dream, sounds incredible, and in all honesty has a quality of a Murphy lab custom shop, although I will say, each model sounds and plays different, played all 3, get the gold

It's nearly perfect, VERY happy but there's 2 issues. Bass side all the way up the neck, between the binding and guitar body there is a thin strip of wood visible where it was not finished in the factory. No picture included with my guitar either. I'll keep it anyway, luv it.

after months, decided to get it, made sure I could return it.... I tried it, configured it with many clean and distorted sounds on the pod go, got a few Line 6 five star sweet child o mine tones, kept the best one, tweaked it and now finally can play with a killer tone! I'm keeping it!
Best Guitar I've Ever Played

This guitar is so nice I had to hurry here to enthusiastically leave a review. I've played many Gibson guitars and the craftsmanship, artwork, detail, and materials used in this guitar is second to NONE. The feel of the guitar is amazing and it frets so easily and when I played it without plugging it in to an amp it sounded about as good as many acoustic guitars I've played. Comes with a beautiful case and extras if you want to install the pic guard. I got the November Burst and there are zero flaws anywhere. This thing is so amazing I don't want to put it down. Honest review. Buy with confidence!

I bought one of these three months ago. In my opinion, the volume knobs really could use some spiffing-up. I love the toggle cap and it's "aeriola"... as far as the flat-creme-and-gloss-gold color combo. the creme of the toggle goes great with the creme pickup surround too. but the OEM plastic gold knobs give an el cheapo look to such an otherwise classy-looking instrument. I'd love to have knobs with the same witch hat shape, but with kind of a turbo-looking version with up-and-down skinny parallel stripes of alternating flat creme-and-gloss-gold. I can't find anything like that though. Anybody know where I can find some? While we're at it, it might be even better to have something like a flat creme enamal bridge too.

what is the blemish on this guitar?
Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the guitars play ability.submitted5 years ago
