Guild DS-240 Memoir Demo by Devon Geyer

Description
The Guild DS-240 Memoir, a slope-shoulder dreadnought acoustic guitar inspired by instruments from the 1920s. Built with a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the DS-240 Memoir produces a full, balanced tone that evokes memories of gatherings around the fire. Its vintage esthetics, including a mother-of-pearl rosette and Guild's signature script logo, transport players to a simpler time. The DS-240 Memoir's tone seems instantly aged and perfected, as if it's been passed down through generations of music-makers.
Solid Woods Create a Lifetime of Tonal Evolution
The DS-240 Memoir's solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides provide a resonant, woody tone that blossoms over years of playing. As the woods age and settle, the tone becomes richer, warmer and more complex. The combination of spruce and mahogany is a hallmark of classic American acoustics, producing a balanced frequency range with articulate highs, warm mids and full low end.
Vintage-Inspired Esthetics Transport Players to Another Era
With a mother-of-pearl rosette, tortoiseshell pickguard and Guild's script logo, the DS-240 Memoir is a vision of craftsmanship from the 1920s. Its satin finish allows the natural beauty of the tonewoods to shine through, while the slope-shoulder body shape harkens back to an earlier Guild design. The vintage-inspired esthetics, along with the DS-240 Memoir's aged tone, provide an immersive experience of a simpler time.
Comfortable Playability Keeps Music Makers Inspired
A comfortable C-shaped mahogany neck and pau ferro fingerboard keep players' hands happy during long sessions. The neck has a familiar, mainstream feel, while the fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface. Together, they enable effortless slides, bends and chord changes so musicians can lose themselves in the music.

Fantastic guitar! First off the actian was perfect, almost like spmeone set it up.before shipping it to me, the finish on top is great looking, the neck is almost natural looking, nice and smooth almost like a slim Gibson neck, the nut with is little thiner then I like but that's personal preference , tunners work fantastic! In terms of playing it sounds nice and rich i suppose even sounding but when you add some picking the notes are bright and don't get lost in a muddy mess, its an amazing guitar seffinently for a begginer but also a good one for any skill level!
Great guitar for the money

I was considering a slope shoulder guitar but didn't want to spend the money on a real J45. So I did some research and some shopping. Tried a few other brands and everything about the Guild was superior IMO to many of those including some that cost three times more.
Great Guild Guitar for an Amazing Price

I went to GC looking to buy another Martin. I own a D15-E and love it. I passed by this Guild D240 and loved the wood grain and the sunburst color. I picked it up and loved the deep tones and long sustain coming from the guitar. I looked up the specs on the Guild site and was impressed it was all wood and had mother of perl rosette. I was shocked to see it was made in China. I found no imperfections except the frets could have been filed down a little more. Otherwise the neck was smooth and easy to play. The GC salesman adjusted the action for me and it played even better. Walked out a happy man. Thank you GC!

This is a really nice sounding guitar and I was pretty much amazed at the quality of tone and sustain this sunburst beauty boasts. It's quite comfortable to play due to details such as a slightly beveled fret board and a smooth slope shoulder design.

This is a beautiful guitar and the sound is above and beyond what you might expect for this price point. I own a D-15 as well as a Taylor GS-Mini and this is right up there with those instruments for sound quality. It also had a luthier quality set up right out of the box.

Guild's website states that the nut width on this guitar is 1 11/16" rather than the 1 3/4" listed in the specs on this page. Which measurement is correct?
I’m very sorry for the confusion. It's 1 11/16" Thank you for pointing that out. I will pass it on to our web team.submitted4 years ago
