Ibanez EHB Ergonomic Headless Bass Collection | NAMM 2020

Description
The Ibanez EHB1005MS redefines the modern bass guitar. This innovative multi scale 5 string bass features a specially contoured American basswood body and 5-piece roasted maple/walnut neck for superior playability and balanced tone. With its headless design and slanted, chambered body, the EHB1005MS allows players to maintain an ideal playing position whether seated or standing. Ibanez is proud to offer the EHB1005MS, a bass that's as groundbreaking as it is versatile.
Multi-Scale Fretboard Provides Optimal String Tension
The EHB1005MS features a multi-scale fretboard with frets that gradually increase in size from the nut to bridge, providing balanced string tension and clear tone across all strings. The wider string spacing at the bridge also allows for more dynamic and articulate playing styles.
Bartolini Pickups Provide Powerful, Responsive Tone
The EHB1005MS is equipped with a Bartolini BH2 humbucker at the neck and bridge for powerfully nuanced tone. Combined with the 3-band active EQ, these pickups offer a wide range of tones from warm and rounded to aggressive and biting. An EQ bypass switch activates passive mode, allowing the treble control to function as a passive tone control.
Roasted Maple Neck and Fingerboard For Stability and Sustain
The roasted maple neck and fingerboard have been heat-treated to increase stability, durability and moisture resistance. The roasting process also enhances midrange tones and sustain. Stainless steel frets further improve sustain and brightness while preventing rust.
Premium Hardware Provides Rock Solid Performance
From the MR5HS bridge with adjustable string spacing to the Schaller S Lock strap pins and Neutrik locking jack, the EHB1005MS features premium components for a reliable and rock solid performance. A detachable finger ramp and padded gig bag are also included.

Picked this up on Wed 06-26-2024 at the University Park, FL location and have not put it down since! A really nice instrument. I really believe that we are seeing a revolution in guitar-making by making them multi-scale. The resonance timbre of the strings is noticeably improved!
What an amazing instrument!

I've had this bass for about a year now. So far it has held up great and I have no complaints regarding build quality. The feel of the instrument is absolutely superb. It's super ergonomic and I can play it for longer sessions. I do have a love-hate relationship with the pickups, but the electronics more than make up for that. The preamp is super nice. Having a semi-parametric mid band on a bass is amazing! This bass is good for any style and genre. I would 100% recommend this killer instrument to anyone.
Great build quality and sound!

Normally I don't write a review until I gig with the item, but I had thumb surgery a while back so I can't gig. But before the surgery I played it quite a bit at home. I'm not a big Bart fan myself but these sound really good. We will see what I think after a gig, but I doubt that my opinion will change. Build quality is excellent and it arrived perfectly set up. The nut has some sharp edges on the outer strings but I can sand that down. Overall, a great bass for the price!

I really wanted this bass for a long time it just looked so cool in the sea foam green roasted maple neck. I just couldn't get out of my bubble on a p bass. I finally said screw it and give it a try and I'm glad I did. First off i opened this it came perfectly setup and ready to go no fret buzz or anything this is my first multi scale bass and it wasn't hard to get used to once in awhile I'll mess up but I've gotten used to this bass now and it's easy. The sound. While as the pickups are very dark the pre amp cleans it up nicely I choose not to use it tho because I'm more of a passive player it's nice to add for a boost in a song tho so it's cool to have. With a lot of eq and the right cab this comes together really nice I would recommend using stainless steel strings to help give more brightness to this. The body is really nice I can play for hours standing up without problems in the shoulders. I recently bought a new fender p bass for a lot more than this bass and from putting them off together I would say this bass is different and has more benefits than a classic p bass you get a lot more sounds stainless steel frets and the roasted maple neck which I wish was a thing years ago. Which bass would I prefer we'll it be the Ibanez at this point because of all the great features it's priced well plays and sounds great for the money my number one thing about any music I've done for the last twenty years is something that cuts through the mix easily the p bass has always been my go to it's easy and you get to work right away this bass is on that level just add more mids and high end and your set I've been recording music for clients with this bass for about a month now and they are very happy with there recordings I will continue to use this bass for now on no more tuning to e eb d c since I got this I've relearn to play everything in one tuning and it's awesome it saves so much time I couldn't be happier with this bass and would recommend it to anyone out there.

Overall this bass is killer, although I'm not a fan of of the Bartolinis, but I knew I wouldn't from a previous Ibanez bass I had so I ordered a set of Nordstrand from them that are the same as what's in the EHB1505MS and put those in. When I was replacing the pickups I found where one of the leads from the bridge pickup wasn't actually soldered on and was just sitting in the hole.
