Ibanez SR305E 5-String Electric Bass Midnight Gray Burst

Description
The SR series has gives bassists a modern alternative with its fast n+E398eck, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics. The SR305E is a handsome 5-string bass designed for the experienced player. It starts with an immaculately finished mahogany body and sturdy 5-piece maple/walnut SR4 neck for a smooth feel. A jatoba fretboard with 24 medium frets allows for comfortable playability. An Accu-cast B125 bridge provides superior string vibration transfer and precise intonation.
PowerSpan Dual Coil Pickups Provide Phenomenal Punch
The SR305E's electronics are two PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups. PowerSpan pickups offer higher output, clarity and fullness than any in the SR305's class. Accessed by the 3-way Power Tap switch, these proprietary pickups offer three tonal personalities: a rich humbucker sound, a pure single-coil sound or an enhanced single-coil sound—fattened by lows from the humbucker pickups.
3-Band EQ Creates a Vast Array of Sound-Shaping Possibilities
Add the ability to dial in precise tone preferences via the Ibanez Custom 3-band EQ, and the SR305E is a musical chameleon. Roll off the highs for a warmer, vintage tone or boost the mids for extra punch. Ample tonal control means you can shape your sound to perfectly match the needs of any song or style.
Fast Neck and Comfortable Body For All-Night Playing
The SR305E's sleek 5-piece maple/walnut neck and comfortable nyatoh arched body provide an experience much like Ibanez's higher-end SR series models. Playing the SR305E is fast, fluid and ergonomic, allowing you to comfortably groove for hours on end.
Premium Components at an Affordable Price

Great Guitar
I have played christian music and in worship bands since the late 60's and have used many different guitars and this is the easiest and best sounding guitar I have ever used.

Poor Build Qualtiy
The bass itself is great. Pickups sound amazing, great feel and tone. There was a slight buzz which I eventually found out was due to the truss rod. The reason for such a low rating is the truss rod itself. It kept warping to an extreme extent. It was never overtightened; however, the allen head of the truss rod quickly became stripped, essentially ruining the guitar. Luckily, I had pro coverage and was able to get a refund for the price of the guitar. Overall, I feel like it is a solid bass, I was just unlucky.

Got this for my grandson for Christmas. I ordered it early, Christmas is over a month away but I wanted to make sure it was delivered on time. It showed up in like 6 days. Great time. He hasn't opened it yet but I know he will love it.
I would buy again!

I have been playing in bands since I was 13 and I must say, I love everything about this guitar except for when it comes to changing the battery. It should be an easy task, but because of the short wires, it is very difficult. Definitely not a quick, on stage, change.
Smooth Player, needs minimal setup out of box

I've used this bass for a couple practices now. It plays fantastic for the price. The item description is wrong though, it is an active pickup bass (which is better for my needs, as I play a style which requires a bit of bite in the bass tone). You will need a way to extend the cable jack for use with a wireless unit, and you might need to raise the action slightly on the heavy B and E strings, as they came set pretty low for me. Overall, I am very pleased so far.

I played a 5 string once before I bought this. I was terrible. Out of practice and I could not process that extra string at all. I have an Ibanez fretless I bought 10 years ago. It did a lot to sell me on the brand. Love the 5 piece neck. It feels almost unpolished and yet so smooth. The active electronics are good too. I did a lot of reading on tone woods. Are nato and jatoba as good as mahogany and rosewood? I'm no expert, but I can't tell the difference. I went cerulean aura burst. Pretty good setup but some buzz on the B string. Much heavier than my fretless 4. Very solid build. I have an old school bass from my band days, but I wanted something that sounds modern. This has that resonant sound that is more prominent in the 2020's.

What size bass strings are used on the Ibanez SR305E
This bass would be compatible with any bass strings. The Ernie Ball 2821 Power Slinky 5-String Bass Strings would be a good choice.submitted5 years ago
