I play different than most people and like a real clean, dreamy, full sound with all the highs and lows. Maybe new age like. They are pretty close to what I was looking for. All the subtle nuances with the bright overtones at the low end off the E and A strings. Even from bottom to top and creamy and smooth. I didn't notice an increased volume as claimed but I wasn't looking for it and adjust volume pots to what I want. The Red Hot gold for the bridge seemed light on the high notes and a bit over powering on the lows so I adjusted it farther away from the strings on the low side and close to the high E string and leveled it out across the board. I balance all my pups that way anyway but just had to be more extreme on the red pup. I am really satisfied with them but have no idea how they would work if you're a meat grinder type player. I wanted a newer better sound and I got it. I have original vintage Strat pups and don't want or need to copy them. These pups replace after market Demarzio and a rails and a 70's Strat pickups, all good in their way but I like the fuller, smoother and broader more even range of these Lace's.
Amazing, Versatile Pickups

I was sold on these pickups after playing a used American Strat equipped with Hot Golds. I was impressed and decided to pick up (no pun intended) these pickups and drop them into my MIM Strat. Ever since, my Strat has become a lean, mean blues machine. The hot bridge pickup is so powerful that even when played clean, it will overdrive the amp slightly if louder than a certain level (use the guitar's volume control to compensate). The neck and middle pickups have that classic Strat tone plus a little extra over-wound sound, with the neck pickup being great for blues and/or jazz playing. When combining the hot bridge with the middle pickup, the classic "quacky" sound of the two pickups combined sounds absolutely unbelievable. If you play Southern Rock, Texas Blues, Classic Rock, Jazz or anything else, I highly recommend you get these babies. The sound is incredible and they're also very quiet. A worthwhile investment all in all.

Im not going to lie, but these pickups are absolutly the best pickups I have ever played. Ive been playing my Amer. Strat for 3 1/2 years and figured out that all the effects a have isnt giving me what i want. So i read about the HOT golds and figured out this might be the key, boy, was i right. The sound is amazing! very very quiet single coils, i was shocked. The Hot bridge gives you that classic 54' clean strat sound with a little bit more additude and the neck and the middle position is my favorite, that gives you almost a perfict SRV sound with a hint of gain on the amp. If you play glassy/clean, classic rock/ Texas style blues these pickups are just for you. Istallation was a breaze, Took about 15 min to install because of the detailed cd it comes with. Just follow it and you will be on your way. If your thinking of getting the texas specials, dont even bother, in my opinion, these sound way better and are cheaper, you would have to be dumb not to buy these babies. Yull love every bit of them!!!!
