Ludwig took their hugely popular "Black Magic" series and made a few improvements, like adding their newly designed P88I throw, cast P35 butt plate and slightly larger tube lugs.

    I love the tone that this snare drum delivers! When compared to other more expensive snares, this one really holds it's own and won me over in it's sound in a low/medium tuning.

    I did not like how tight the snare strainer release was, so I returned it and spent more on a DW snare, with MUCH smoother release.
