MEINL Percussion - "How to tune a Djembe"

Description
The Meinl Headliner Black River Series Rope Tuned Djembe 10" delivers an unparalleled acoustic experience for percussionists. Constructed from plantation grown mahogany and fitted with a hand selected goatskin head, this djembe produces rich, resonant bass tones and crisp slaps that fill any space. The flowing ripple motif carved into its shell provides an easy grip and visual flair, inspired by a winding river—ideal for drum circles, solo practice or live performance. The Meinl Headliner Djembe 10" is ready to play straight from the box.
Hand Carved Mahogany Shell Resonates with Life
The Meinl Headliner Djembe 10" features a hand carved mahogany shell made from a single piece of wood. This solid construction allows vibrations to travel unimpeded through the djembe, resulting in outstanding projection with a wide range of tones. The ripple pattern carved into the shell is not only visually striking but also provides a comfortable grip for playing between the knees, enabling percussionists to achieve a fuller, more dynamic sound.
Goatskin Head Produces Authentic Tones
Fitted with a premium goatskin head secured using traditional Mali weave rope tuning, the Meinl Headliner Djembe 10" delivers an authentic West African sound. The hand selected goatskin head is pre tuned to produce deep bass notes, cutting high tones and a range of sounds in between. Percussionists can achieve a variety of tones by striking the head at different points and with different playing techniques for a highly responsive acoustic experience.

I play this djembe for the fun of it, around campfires and such with friends. It sounds amazing and is very well crafted. Just tune it out of the box and go play, it's a lot of fun.

Outstanding Drum with Wonderful Sound

This djembe is amazing. It's very responsive and has a wonderful, warm sound. The bass tone is unbelievably deep, compared to the small size of the drum. I love the handle, which is designed perfectly, so you can carry it over your shoulder comfortably and since it's very light, it's super easy to carry around. It also looks very cool. Couldn't ask for a better instrument. It's perfect!
