Great product that allows you to customize at the build level if you like.

Although I typically take more time than most to build things because I'm a perfectionist, this really didn't take that long and was WELL worth it. Luckily I already had all the tools I needed to get the job done. A few notes though...the instructions are not completely clear on some things and actually give some wrong info. First, don't feel the grooves with glue, it will overflow bad and create a big mess to clean up. Oozing is not your friend. Second, the battens will need to be centered since they are not a snug fit. There will be gaps. This causes the hole pattern on the back of the instructions to be incorrect on some holes. Third, if you have a brad nailer, use it. Last, careful with the feet. The rubber is glued to the plastic piece and can come loose if not careful.

Bad instructions.

The instructions are not detailed at all. There are only a couple, low quality pictures so it is quite confusing. I have never made a cajon before, nor have I done much woodworking. I glued the panels the wrong way so don't do that.

I have a couple of these, wanted to build one. I put it together with my FIL, a cabinet maker, so it went together we'll. It doesn't sound great.

I like the cajon a lot. Kind of hard but fun to build. I stained mine.

I thoroughly enjoyed putting this Cajon together. It plays well and is a nice height to sit on. Sturdy. You will need glue, sandpaper and straps, clamps or weights to give pressure while glue dries.
