Great Bass for Great Price!

This bass guitar turned out to be a really cool little guitar. I played bass years ago, switched to guitar, and decided to get back into bass so I wanted something small for jamming and recording at home that didn't break the bank. A couple of frets are a little rough at the edges but that I expect little things like that at this price point. It's only 1 or 2 frets and I can always polish those down if it gets annoying. Honestly, other than that, it was ready to go out-of-box. Color and paint look great, and with some stereo effects through headphones or a small amp with effects, or headphones amp it sounds pretty good. Overall, very happy with this bass for the price. And the short-scale is just cool for travel or easy play at home. For my needs, I don't need a giant full sized bass. Quick tip, I bought online and picked up in-store and was able to take a look at it before going home to make sure there were no defects from shipping or manufacturing. I would definitely buy this bass again. Don't expect it to look, feel or sound like a $500 bass because it is not. But for the price, it FAR exceeded my expectations. Super fun, and the price for a NEW guitar can't be beat.

GC did not ship a "new" product. Needs a ton of setup

Ordered online but it was not shipped in it's original box like you might expect ordering from new stock, so it was probably knocking around a retail location for a while. Did not include any manufacture tag, paperwork, or even a allen wrench for the truss rod. Came in a reused Fender box. That didn't thrill me but upon inspecting there was not any deal breaking scuff or scratch marks. I am giving it the full test run before I decide to keep it or not since it is dirt cheap. Neck was seriously bowed out of the box. After working on the truss rod and on the string height at the saddle, there is still a good bit of buzz. Gonna let the wood settle overnight and see if I can't get this thing playable, otherwise it's going back. A couple of positives; intonation seems spot on, neck/frets are very smooth - no snags there. If you order a super cheap sight-unseen guitar, expect to do much setup work, so if you are not comfortable or experienced with that, get yo derriere to a store and test drive. Does not look like I will even get as far as testing the electronics, but I am sure that is the usual turkey shoot as well.

This is the first bass I bought and learned to play. Really nice sound, not a lot of clicking when the strings hit the frets, and short scales are easy transitions for regular guitar players. I would definitely buy this one again and I still use it regularly along with the two others I have.

I'm more a guitar player than bass player, but fake it to have bass on my recordings. This sounded very good on a recent track -- indistinguishable, in my view, from a more expensive instrument. The materials are of good quality for this price point.

  • I would buy it again

We're providing a little 'playground' for kids to try a few instruments and see what they find interesting; I had a couple of other short-scale Mitchells so I didn't feel this was a gamble and I am very happy with it now in my hands. It arrived needing a bit of adjustment; but was put into service almost immediately.

  • sounds great, easy to play
