P. Mauriat

collapse expand iconDescription

The PMB-300 Series Baritone Saxophones are professional class instruments that feature a standard neck, hand engraved bell and bow, abalone key touches, and has a range of low A to high F#. The PBM-300 is available in unfinished raw brass or vintage dark lacquer. Each finish treatment lends a different color to the sound. Uninhibited by layers of lacquer, the raw brass will give this saxophone a powerful unique vintage sound. The absence of lacquer allows the finish to age over time, forging a mature sound that is uniquely yours. The signature vintage dark lacquer is formed from yellow brass and has a warm round sound players will fall in love with.

P. Mauriat leads the industry as the innovator of modern vintage saxophones and trumpets. Each horn is hand crafted from start to finish out of the very finest materials. From fresh ideas in metal combinations, to cutting edge neck designs and trend setting finishes, P. Mauriat continually works to solidify their reputation for creating horns that offer the sound, response, ergonomics and intonation that will impress even the most demanding players.

I've only played one other baritone saxophone in my life, my old CONN 13M. And compared to that clunker the P. Mauriat is a gem. Plays so smooth and easily. It feels more like a big tenor rather than a big baritone. The ergos were so easy to get used to. Didn't feel like I was trying to stretch or push harder on any of the keys. Just seamless and flowing. Comes with a decent mouthpiece and solid case with wheels. The dark lacquer finish is breathtaking. All my musician friends compliment its looks. Even my bass player who has never complimented me on my playing said it sounds way better than my CONN 13M. There's no left hand A key, just the alternate fingering left thumb key under the octave key. Takes a bit getting used to but in the end I can see myself loving that fingering eventually.
