Pearl Ax-25 Adapter 2 Hole Revolving

Used on a Cymbal stand to mount a small tom tom

I bought a sp adapter and just bought the ax25. The ax25 seems to be stronger and the clamps clamp on easier. I have the older version and you have to use a wrench to tighten it to close it tight. This new version you can finger tighten and get the same results. I am not talking about just a cymbal arm and a cymbal but clamping on to a set of rototoms. I had bought the older versions and one was on a cymbal stand and fell down and broke in two onto a carpeted floor. I hope this doesn't happen to this one. The concept of adapters was a good ideal but what they do to the stand (almost every brand) is not. I have two 90 series Pearl boom stands from 1986 (Pearl's heaviest stands) and I have dents where ever I put adapters on them. I have a Pearl 80 series boom stand that I taught could handle a 14" tom and a 22" ride. But now the center tube is bent from the tom and for some reason the bottom tube is bent also. This denting and bending have more to do with the material that companies(not just Pearl) use to make their stands with but I just want to mention it to warn people! And you pay a lot of money for stands and this shouldn't happen! Especially on heavy duty stands!!! I also was using Ludwig stands from the same time period, they didn't dent but the chrome scratches easy. I bought a DW 9000 boom and loaded it up with two 12" and 13" toms and three sm cymbals. So far no dents but a little scratching. Your other option is to use a drum rack (the price of 5 stands). I could but I am into deep. But if I could find a cheep enough rack I might.

I bought a sp adapter and just bought the ax25 not only to attach a cymbal to another cymbal on a stand but also to hold up a set of 3 roto toms up. The sp and the ax25 adapter both do the job. But the ax25 is stronger. The sp flexed a little. The ax25 can clamp on to smaller diameter cymbal arms, than the sp. I have a earlier version of the ax25, it was attached to a stand and cracked when they fell over. Hope this one wont suffer the same fate.

This is without a doubt the best clamp I own. I use it to mount a boom arm with a 19 inch crash off another cymbal stand. This clamp is very adjustable and in conjunction with my boom arm, I can put my crash pretty much wherever I want. I have had it for a while now and it seems to be holding up just fine. I will defiantly be buying more of these very soon.
